Winter Quarters Fire Hits TJ Schmidt & Company; 2026 Season Moves Forward
On the evening of March 12, Michigan-based TJ Schmidt & Company experienced a catastrophic fire at its winter quarters. At the time, it was unclear what equipment had been damaged. The show has since announced that it has a comprehensive plan in place for the 2026 season and beyond.
“While this was an unexpected challenge, we are approaching it with purpose and optimism—using it as an opportunity to enhance and strengthen our operation, including our ride and amenities offerings. We are confident that this season will deliver an even bigger and better midway experience,” the company said in a statement posted on social media.
“Our partners and guests can continue to expect the same company-wide standards: exceptional customer care, a safe and family-friendly environment, and the exciting, high-quality midway experience that defines our organization as ‘Michigan's Family Fun Midway,'” the statement continued.
Our thoughts are with the Schmidt and Burtch families as they navigate this difficult time and prepare for the 2026 season.
