Rocken Graphics Continues to Grow with Innovative Ideas

Rides 4U - New & Used Rides Giant Wheel Foreman Wanted
Rocken Graphics has been in business since 2000 and provides amusement industry graphics for tents, banners, ballys, signage, stickers and flags. With its work done in-house, the company conveniently handles every phase of production in one facility. This is to ensure that the finished product is second to none.

A testament to their hard work: Rocken Graphics received an honorable mention for outstanding printed graphics from the IFAI (International Fabrics Association International) in their monthly publication InTents. The company was also honored with a plaque from SAI, which is a world leader of graphic making software for being the 10,000th subscriber.

Rocken Graphics initially started out creating signage that was mostly related to ride safety signs. As business began to grow however, digital print became the main focus, especially since this medium is what's now in demand in the marketplace.

“We have scaled back on wrapping, and decided to focus on canvas – traditional striped and digital,” says business owner, Kenny Smith. “We do trailers, ballys, ride canvas and tents. We have also started building truss tents, and we were one of the first to do trailer wraps.”

This year marked the 18th time Rocken Graphics has participated in the Gibtown Trade Show. Smith says he looks forward to the event each year. “We displayed a couple of 12 by 12 truss tents as well as some of our traditional striped canvas and digital printed canvas,” he shares. “It's a great show because the people that come out are serious buyers. We always walk away from the show with a good feeling.”

After 18 years trade shows, Smith says he is not stagnant, but more excited than ever about the future of his business and the amazing new possibilities that can be created using new technology. He is especially pleased with the company's truss and digital tents.

In particular, the new truss tents that will be offered for sale in 2019 he believes are the best available anywhere and a positive change for concessionaires. Digital tents have also seen change and improvements. “One thing we have done with our digital tents is construct them using a two-color tent material,” he shares. “There is print on the outside and a solid color on the inside. We offer five different colors on the interior, and no one else in the industry is currently doing this.”

The company will also expand on the ride canvas end of the business during the year ahead.

“There is definitely a need for that in the industry right now,” says Smith. “We put in a couple of pieces of new equipment to help with the expansion, and we're trying to put products out in a timely manner. With digital printed canvas, we are also able to theme rides that don't have a lot of space to wrap. This is nice because they don't have to stick to the traditional look.”

Rocken Graphics has also discovered a substantial market geared toward amenities for show owners. The company has designed graphic work for features such as diaper changing tents, courtesy tents, cell phone charging stations, trash can covers, picnic table covers and umbrellas. Photo op cutouts have also become a big part of the business.

Smith believes his company stands out from the competition because all involved with the business have taken it upon themselves to conduct extensive research into what constitutes a great product – for example, thoroughly learning about industry fabrics, thread, inks and laminates.

“We want to use the absolute best materials available in our products,” he says. “We pride ourselves on quality of workmanship and also try to use all domestic products when available. We also believe in listening to our customers to find out what they want.”
