Peggy Reid, a long-time concessionaire in the carnival industry, passed away on April 26, 2026. After her passing, longtime friends Melissa and Frank Zaitshik wrote the following piece in remembrance of her life and impact. Our thoughts and prayers are with Peggy's friends and family as they mourn her loss.

I've put this off far too many days because as a guy that's not usually at a loss of words in this case it was difficult to find them.

We lost a dear friend and member of our Wade Shows family.

For over 40 Years Peggy has been our friend and one of the original team that built the company that we are today.

As humans we always find nice things about those that die.

Sometimes we have to look deep.

It is easy and truthful to say nice things about Peggy Reid.

Saturday May 2nd was a sad day for a lot of people as this was the day Peggy was buried.

Family, extended family and a huge amount of people whose lives she touched gathered to celebrate Peggy's life and how she impacted theirs.

One such person had not seen Peggy in at least 10 years. When I asked him why did he come after all these years his answer was how could I not?

She was not a good human being, but a great one.

She seldom said a bad word about anyone, but rather tried to find good words to say about everyone.

She never looked at what you could do for her, rather what and how she could do for you.

She lived with dignity and grace.

She was a role model for all young women.

A great example is a young teenager who Peggy took under wing providing shelter, food, advice, love and someone to look up to.

This teenager in part because of Peggy's support left the Carnival, became a medical professional and came back to help care for Peggy in her final days.

The 2025 season was a hard one for Peggy. It started in our first spot with symptoms like neck, hip pain and slurred speech.

She went to a few doctors and ERs with no real insight.

As the season progressed her symptoms also did.

She fought thru the pain and showed up everyday.

She was finally diagnosed with ALS in November but still did her best to show up everyday.

She will be missed by all of us who knew and were inspired by her.

I'll say this about those of us that were there to see and experience the woman she was.

“If you know, you know.”

As the years months, and days passed she needed more help than she could give and the people she had been there for were there for her.

Her daughter Michelle and sister Sandy cared for her lovingly until the end.

I hope we can all honor Peggy's memory by doing something good for someone.
