Over 1,000 Exhibitors Await 2019 IAAPA Expo Trade Show Attendees

This year's IAAPA Expo returns to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Fla. with more than 1,000 exhibitors on its vast showroom floor. Scheduled for November 18 through 22nd, the Expo will also include two specially built adjacent structures, called Exploration Station, featuring over 100 exhibiting companies.

Universal is featured in two special events this year, including a Lunch & Learn session in which senior director of Creative Design at Universal Creative, George Walker, serves as keynote speaker and on Thursday evening, IAAPA Celebrates, a networking event, will be held at Universal's Islands of Adventure.

Vince Kadlubek, co-founder and CEO of Meow Wolf, which began with an interactive, immersive art experience in Santa Fe, N.M., and is fast becoming a major amusement industry player, addresses the Game Changer session at the Expo. Overall, 100 educational events will take place during the event, from seminars, panel sessions, lunch talks, and EDUTours to Orlando-area amusement attractions.

From professional development institutes to fundraising events set to benefit Give Kids the World, and regional and industry sector lunches, there will be plenty to occupy attendees along with the Expo's massive showroom floor.

As the global association for the attractions industry, IAAPA is drawing attendees from over 100 different countries, coming from amusement/theme parks, waterparks, family entertainment centers, carnivals, museums, and zoos and aquarium attractions.

Among the different programs and events planned is the IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers, designed as a professional development program for leaders with five or fewer years' experience in attractions management and is an intensive two-and-a-half-day program that focuses on topics form finance to facility operations, leadership, and safety.

Another informative program, Tracking Success on Social Media, offers tips to increase website visitors, create better search engine placement, provide stronger customer engagement, and draw new customers; it helps participants understand the difference between metrics and analytics, and how to make that information work.

In Secrets of Sparkle: Applying Theme Park Magic to Attractions at Any Level,four recently opened, successful theme park projects will be illustrated, with attendees able to learn from these detailed examples.

Adding adult beverages to theme park facilities is another immersive seminar; it offers information on all the benefits, risks, and beverage industry trends when it comes to responsibly selling alcohol on-site.

In Delighted or Outraged? Uncovering the Key Drivers of Exceedingly Positive and Negative Visitor Experiences at Theme Parks, attendees will learn the facts of a recent study about the extreme emotions experienced by guests during a visit.

Among other exciting seminars offered this year at IAPPA Expo are hot topics on staffing; the inside info on inclusive programming.

When it comes to the EDUTour offerings at this year's event, Aquatica Orlando – Promoting Positive, Sensory-Friendly Guest Experiences is sure to be a popular offering, with a discussion as to how the waterpark because the first in the world designated as a Certified Autism Center (CAC), with a focus on its inclusive programming.

The Fun Spot EDUTour offers an exclusive look at Central Florida's only family-owned theme park. Attendees will meet owners and learn all about the the operation of the park, as well as discovering the secrets behind the park's approach to customer service. Those partaking of this experience will also enjoy a home-style dinner and choose a guided tour of the park in one of four program tracks: operations, maintenance, human resources, and food and beverage.

Another sure-to-be-popular tour takes place at LEGOLAND Florida's Resort's largest expansion – the launch of THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD. The new area includes three rides all inspired by the characters and themes of the THE LEGO MOVIE and THE LEGO MOVIE 2: The Second Part. There will also be an an overview of retail operations at LEGOLAND Florida's newest store, The Awesome Shop, along with lunch featuring items from the new restaurant, Taco Tuesday Everyday.

EDUTour: Universal Orlando's Newest Attraction is already sold out, as attendees who've already claimed their spots participating in the latest ride at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park, Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure, which combines immersive storytelling and innovative roller coaster technology with rich environments and sets – including a forest with more than 1,200 live trees. Participants will also learn how Universal Orlando focused on recruiting, hiring, and training team members for their newest attraction.

EDUTour: SeaWorld Orlando Sesame Street will take attendees behind the scenes at the immersive family attraction with a guided tour from the creative team behind the new land, and operations of the award-winning Sesame Street Party Parade. Participants can also experience the parade from a VIP viewing area.

With EDUTour: Conserving the Magic – Disney's Approach to Sustainability, attendees will be able to look at Disney's focus on protecting and enhancing the environment, a growing interest for Disney. In this event, participants will look at sustainable practices as Disney offers an inside look on their conservation of natural resources through a talk with members of Disney's environmental teams and a behind-the-scenes bus tour to various locations on the Disney property that present various successes.

Another event is EDUTour: Island H2O Live! at the Margaritaville Resort which gives attendees a first-look tour of Central Florida's newest water park, Island H2O Live! at the Margaritaville Resort. The park features the latest water park technology and provides guests with fully customizable and interactive experiences. Attendees participating in this full day offering will learn how the team developed the park's unique food and beverage menus and offerings. This tour should be a fun one for participants, as it also includes a visit to the waterpark itself for fun and splashes on slides including their multi-guest racer the interactive lazy river, complete with caverns and lighting effects, and watch Live! entertainment including DJs, parties, and surprise guests.

Overall, this year's IAAPA convention should offer exciting and educational offerings along with their vast array of vendors on the showroom floor, from waterpark attractions to food and beverage choices, rides, and technology.
