Chuck Wheeler of Amusement Wraps showcased new products and concepts at the 2019 IISF Trade Show in Gibsonton, Florida held February 5th-8th. While Wheeler has the same products available that current customers love, this year has been one of exploration and new opportunities for the company.

New this year, Amusement Wraps purchased a CNC Router which can be used to cut out shapes and signs for Marquees or photo-op cutouts. At his booth in Gibtown, Wheeler displayed an exciting new innovation in cut-out photo opportunities that was tested at the South Florida Fair and Florida State Fair for Wade Shows.

“Also with the CNC Router we're doing ride packages for the Wisdom Orient Express and Dragon Wagon. We're making the panel replacements for the top/front of the ride to fit the dimensions already on the ride,” says Wheeler.

Online ordering through the website is also new this year for Amusement Wraps. Currently, customers can purchase concession skirts directly from the website. Skirts are available in a variety of colors and patterns and in custom sizes.  Coming soon through the website: customers can order ride packages including all the vinyl needed to re-theme or re-do a ride. Wheeler is also planning to have safety decals available for purchase through the website by May 1st. Online ordering is one way Wheeler is making business more convenient for his customers.

Wheeler also mentioned that he is working on an exciting funhouse project. The piece would fit any carnival midway from small to large. While Wheeler doesn't want to give out too many specific details as the project is still in the works, he hopes to have plans ready to show at the IAAPA trade show 2019.

“Plans now include a booth at IAAPA to present the idea and concept of the funhouse at IAAPA with enough information to sell, says Wheeler.”

Amusement Wraps' booth in Gibtown showcased a new machine that prints direct to substrate. This printer is better than a UV direct to substrate because the ink is smoother and brighter. At the show, Wheeler displaued a back wall at his booth with direct to substrate printing on it. The printer allows printing direct to the metal and then Wheeler puts a urethane clear coat on it so there is no vinyl involved. If a customer is re-doing a concession stand with a new substrate it would be more durable like a painted marquee and not involve vinyl. The direct to substrate printing will also last longer than the vinyl.

Wheeler started out in the business as a show painter in the early 80s. “I moved over to digital in 2006,” says Wheeler. Currently, Amusement Wraps has four large format printers and a mobile unit in order to come on-site for jobs when necessary. “I am coming up on about 35 years of experience in the business,” says Wheeler.

Currently, Amusement Wraps does work for a variety of carnivals and parks including 5 of the top 7 carnivals which play many of the fairs on's Top 50 Fairs list. Additionally, Wheeler works with ARM rides on design projects.

One way that Amusement Wraps stands out from other companies is that they also do work for amusement parks. “It gives us the unique position to bring more of a theme park look and feel to carnival midways,” says Wheeler. “We produce products that are noticed by the guests at the event as well as assuring the event committees that their carnival is staying on the cutting edge.” Amusement Wraps also makes guest amenities for many shows such as guest relations trailers, baby changing stations, free lockers, and free charging stations which help bring a “theme park feel” to the midway.
