Lifelong Showman, Norb Kedrowicz, Passes
Norb Kedrowicz passed away August 9 in Lufkin, Texas. He was born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on May 12, 1945, the last of six children. He attended Sacred Heart elementary school in Polonia, Wisconsin where his parents lived, and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1963.
He was a lifelong showman. His parents Emil and Tecla booked their miniature sawmill show with many carnivals in the Upper Midwest including Skerbeck Shows, Gooding Amusement Co., W.T. Collins Shows, Art B. Thomas Shows and many others. In the early 1960s Norb worked summers for his sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Eugene Skerbeck who owned Skerbeck Amusement Company. In the late 1960s he worked for A&P Shows and Belle City Amusements.
He married Cheryl Miller in 1972 who predeceased him in in 2019. They had two sons, Steven, who died in 2020, and Jamie. They booked their rides with the Bill Hames Shows from the mid 1970s to the mid 1990s. During this time he attended many AIMS and NAARSO seminars and became a certified third party ride inspector in Texas. Norb and Cheryl worked for Skerbeck Brothers Shows from 1996 until they retired in 2015.
Norb was predeceased by his two brothers Arthur and John and his sister Magaret Frehler. He is survived by his son Jamie, grandson Stephen, sisters Arlene Altenburg and Pauline Bembenek, sister-in-law Phyllis Kedrowicz and numerous nieces and nephews. Norb will be remembered for his great stories and his willingness to help anyone in need. He had many friends in and out of show business and will be missed by all.
