Kissel Entertainment has become the first carnival company to earn International Ride Operator Certification (iROC) through International Ride Training (IRT), a safety training organization for the amusement industry.

The iROC program is the only third-party ride operator certification program in the world. Developed by IRT, the program is designed to train front-line ride operators in safety procedures, operational efficiency, and professional guest interaction. The certification draws on decades of experience in ride operations and safety training across the amusement industry.

Kissel Entertainment officials said the certification reflects the company’s ongoing focus on ride safety and employee training.

“It is our hope that we inspire every traveling amusement provider to participate in this incredible program,” said Madison Kissel, chief operating officer of Kissel Entertainment, who led the initiative. “We want to ensure our industry receives the most up-to-date resources to help protect guests and employees. Guests of any carnival deserve the same level of safety commitment that theme parks provide.”

With the certification, Kissel Entertainment joins permanent amusement operators including Cedar Fair, Six Flags, and Hersheypark that also participate in the iROC program.

The company said safety initiatives have long been a central part of its operations. In addition to using third-party certified ride inspectors, Kissel Entertainment requires ride-specific and advanced operational training for its staff. The company also participates in the Outdoor Amusement Business Association’s Circle of Excellence program and works with the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials (NAARSO) to provide training and share industry best practices.

The certification marks another milestone for the company. Kissel Entertainment previously became the first traveling entertainment provider to receive Sensory Inclusive certification through KultureCity, a program aimed at improving accessibility for guests with sensory needs.

Company officials said they hope the new certification encourages broader adoption of enhanced safety training standards throughout the traveling amusement industry.
