James (Jimmy) Godfrey McBride, Sr. Passes
James Godfrey McBride, Sr., 83 of Eden, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at his home.
A funeral service was held at 11am Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden.
James Godfrey McBride, Sr., affectionately known as Jimmy, was born on February 26, 1942, in Rockingham County, North Carolina, to the late James Monroe McBride and Lorene Washburn McBride. He attended Morehead High School and later became a member of Charity Baptist Church in Eden.
Best known around his hometown of Eden for his delicious candy apples, Jimmy was a proud past owner and lifetime employee of McBride’s Concessions, dedicating over 70 years to the carnival industry. His work in the carnival business was more than just a career—it was a passion that connected him with people across the country, making lifelong friends along the way.
Jimmy cherished the time spent in the business, especially the memories made with his family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether at home or sharing stories with friends at the carnival, he loved recounting the adventures and experiences of his life in the carnival world.
Above all, Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, creating lasting bonds and memories that will continue to be cherished by all who knew him. His legacy of love, hard work, and friendship will remain a guiding light for generations to come.
Surviving are his son, James Godfrey McBride, Jr. (Sheila) of Albany, Georgia; daughter, Renee McBride Warren (Matt) of Eden, North Carolina; mother of his children, Norma Jean Corum of Eden, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Adam Warren (Amanda) of Orange Park, Florida, Victoria Lane (Mark) of Albany, Georgia, James Godfrey McBride, III (Mallory) of Albany Georgia, Brittany Pratt (Jonathan) of Eden, North Carolina, Thomas McBride (Kelly) of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Sarah Hatcher (Reid) of Albany, Georgia; eighteen great-grandchildren, Aiden, Asher, Alexa, Averett, Sawyer, Penelope, Lovell, Beau, Hays, James Godfrey IV, Jackson, Halle, Londyn, Eli, Sam, Lola, Archie, Ember; sister, Harriet McBride Golden of Cherryville, North Carolina; along with many carnival business family and friends.
