A severe thunderstorm left behind extensive damage to the Hudson Valley Fair in Fishkill, New York on Tuesday evening. Luckily, the fair was closed and nobody on the midway was injured, however, property damage to the midway was extensive. Powers & Thomas Midway Entertainment co-owner, Ron Thomas, reported that the shows Sky Diver had tipped over in heavy winds. After securing the ride to trucks using 5/8" thick cable, the heavy winds broke the cables in half and toppled the ride onto a nearby house trailer. Other damage on the midway included five ticket boxes, one joint, three big umbrellas, and the wind flipped three cars on the circus train.
The fair was slated to be open May 18-20 for its final weekend, however, fair management decided to cut the final weekend due to the extensive damage.
