Carnival & Fair Buzz

NY Governor Andrew Cuomo, after almost a year of closures, has announced the ability for theme parks, entertainment centers and summer camps to open.  The directive is expected to include carnivals as well. 

Governor Cuomo, in issuing new guidelines for opening said said, "Beginning March 26, indoor family entertainment centers can reopen. The Department of Health will list the guidelines, but 25% capacity, face coverings, social distance, temperature checks, frequent cleaning, and disinfection. Outdoor amusement parks can reopen starting April 9 with 33% capacity, face coverings, social distancing, temperature checks, cleaning, disinfection, tickets sold in advance, etc."

In order to open, plans must be submitted and reviewed by the local health department.

Opening criteria includes:

• Contact tracing must be collected from each party to conduct contact tracing
• High touch areas must be frequently cleaned during the day
• Social Distancing must be maintained at all all times.
• Guests and employees must wear face covering
• Retail and food services must follow state guidelines
• Tickets must be purchased in advance

Additional guidance is expected shortly, but the directive is long awaited news for the fair, carnival and park industries.
