The Alabama National Fair and Agricultural Expo, a staple in the Montgomery community for over 70 years, is addressing a recent fire incident that occurred on its fairgrounds on Saturday, March 16th, 2024.
At approximately 9:30 PM on Saturday, March 16th, a fire broke out on the fairgrounds premises. The Montgomery Fire Department responded swiftly to the scene, deploying their resources promptly to contain and extinguish the fire, minimizing its spread and mitigating potential damage to surrounding structures. After thorough investigation, it has been determined that the cause of the fire was electrical in nature. The devastation wrought by the flames is profound. We mourn the loss of the building housing vital equipment, including multiple forklifts and UTVs, along with all hand tools and power tools essential for the setup of our food vendors on our independent midway, outdoor shows, as well as our educational agricultural displays.
The scale of this loss underscores the gravity of the situation, amplifying our resolve to rebuild and emerge stronger for the 2024 Alabama National Fair. This incident comes as a shock to us all.
We are immensely grateful for the swift response and professionalism demonstrated by the Montgomery Fire Department, whose actions undoubtedly prevented further devastation. The Alabama National Fair and Agricultural Expo team is working diligently to assess the full extent of the damage and is committed to restoring the affected areas as swiftly as possible. We will rebuild and be fully operational for the 2024 Alabama National Fair. We are immensely thankful for the outpouring of support from the community during this challenging time.
