hey chris hurley, would you be happy if powers great american midways visited michigan. that would be nice. they currently travel around, pennsylvania, new york state and parts of new england, and i think they visit a few fairs in the carolinas in the fall months and then head to winter h.q in florida. if they did have a contract with the michigan state or ionia fair. i'm sure they would do a great job at both of these fairs. if they did come. it would be anyone's guess what they would bring but here is a wish list for rides that would probly attend both fairs:
chance zipper (new style) tivoli claw (spin out) larson ring of fire dartron hurricane a.r.m ali baba chance flying bobs majestic musik express eyerly spiderwisdom sizzler sellner tilt-a-whirlmulligan wheel allen herschell sky wheel dartron cliff hanger wisdom tornado mardi gras
about 10 to 17 kiddie rides
they DO attend the big butler fair in prospect, pennsylvania both the light and dark blue units go there, if they do it at this fair, i'm sure they could probly do it at these 2. well that's all for now thanks.

Well, I know they play Goldsboro and Salisbury and send rides with Deggeller to the Cabarrus County Fair, and I believe their quarters are in Burgaw, North Carolina, not Florida. |

Powers Great American Midways play a few spots in our area and they are a very good looking carnival. They are always selling their old rides and buying new ones and the rides that they do have that have been around awhile look brand new. You don't even see a burned out light bulb on any of their rides. They are very well kept up.
It's one of the cleanest and nicest carnivals that I have seen in quite awhile.
I'm sure that they will be one of the major carnival companies in the next few years.

that's a great set of rides they got, what, a week old dark ride from owens? neat, but coul'nt they get next year insted of right now, no need to complain but since they got it early, i guess they have big plans for it next year, since both michigan state and ionia fairs are preety big, it looks like powers could probly bring everything own to both fairs one at a time. depending on the 2 fairs dates.

what? the're selling old rides and getting new ones?? that's not good news for their sky wheel, i really hope i see it and ride it one day before they sell it, luckly, they bought amusements of america's sky wheel but they are only using it as parts for theirs, but hopefuly that will probly keep powers sky wheel on the road with them for a few more seasons, as for amusemens of america's and pugh's sky wheel (now in poor jack's w.q) if they don't recive much needed and vital parts. the're history.

I heard that they mostly sell rides that are no longer doing well or rides that have been updated. I also heard that the longest that they keep a ride is 9 years.

Powers is great, i think you missed the Zamperla Speedway ride they have, unless they dont have it anymore, but other than that you covered all of them! (oh yeah, and didnt someone say they got rid of the casino(trabant), too bad i wanted to ride that!)
Their rides are run well too, if they do come, pray that they bring the spider, it is one that is not to be missed!!!!

Powers still has the Speedway. I figured I missed one or two rides on that list. Last I heard one of the guys who works for them bought the Casino (a 1986 or 87 model)It was on Corky's unit last season and this spring but I don't recall seeing it this summer.
