Wayne Kunz of Mighty Blue Grass Shows is pulling a neat trick himself by resigning from the carnival where he worked 21 years for Jim Murphy and 21 for his dad, the late Al Kunz. While at the park show in Orlando, Kunz said his last spot was the Alachua County Fair in Gainesville. He did not attend Murphy's big dinner for friends and fair officials in Las Vegas.

was supprised to hear this. He had been there a long time, which is unusual for any biz anymore.

So he is just "retiring" then? 42 years of anything is enough for anyone I guess. Hopefully after 21 years he and Murphy didn't have a "falling out". Seems odd he would not be at the party, but hey, maybe he was taking a well deserved vacation in Tahiti or somewhere! I wish him the best....he's got a legendary legacy. Is his son still working for Chance?

Wayne Kunz, himself told me this was his last year. I stayed on the bus with him in Superior. We talked about old and new, that man and his father taught me more about life and learning than anyone could imagine. My book is mostly focused around Wayne and his father. It wasnt my business to say anything on this site and I never would he is like a father to me,I respect him. I think everyone on this board will like my book, just give me time. It sounds easy but theres alot of gaffs, before you can get published. As far as Wayne, HE WAS THE BEST IN THE BIZ!!!!!!!!!!!

Wayne is a good good man. I am happy to see that he finally woke up and smelled "the Murphys".

Wayne Kunz is a awesome guy. I had a few great conversations with him. He is full of knowledge and history about the carnival business, especially Century 21 shows. When at the Iowa State Fair, he took some time out of his day to drive my girlfriend and I around the fairgrounds in his golf car.

At this point, we do not know why he left. Let's not speculate please [:)]. You never know, he may be like Ward Hall and come out of retirement in a few months- lol.

My only contact with Wayne Kunz was back in the 90's. My wife and I were visiting MBS in Monroe to take pics and see the show. I went to the office to introduce myself and I was introduced to Wayne. He dropped what he was doing and gave me and my wife a personal tour of the show. He took me behind the scenes with the moonraker and I took tons of pics. Wetalked about skywheels, his job, and MBS. A super person! I wish him luck with retirement.
