Saw WPS when they booked with Atlas at Cal Expo in ‘77, great looking rides, trucks and equipment.

They had a (I think) brand new Super Himalaya there and a lot of other stuff. I wonder what happened to them...

Did they winter in Indio?

The tubes on the diver center load rode okay. I’ve pulled it with (Strates) and without (Atlas) sleeves and never had an issue with breakage.

I’ve seen them 100%, and they really aren’t that hard to keep lit. All the same single-tit tubes and only one model ballist. Everything is cheap and easy to find, and it’s easy to work on.

Skywheel is much, much tougher to keep lit...

Charlie Bond kept Strates’ Skywheel well lit...

They moved to mexico in the early 80's. They returend to the US in 1995 or 1996 under the "Pacific Coast Shoes" name. They serviced a number of county fairs (Colussa, Napa, Yubba-Sutter etc). I last heard of them a few years ago when they were still listed in the annual carnival directory. At this time, I do not believe they exist anymore.

As far as I know the Davis show has ceased operation. Aparently though, they still have their rides.

I've only seen a Sky Wheel at my local festival three times; in 75 and 76 on Johnny's United Shows midway, and again in 81 on Key City Shows midway.
I've never been "with it", just been an interested observer of carnivals for more than 50 years.
Johnny's United Shows..."A Family Tradition" and "All for Fun, Fun for All".
The carnival of my youth, which had roots that originated in my hometown.

Ours regularly comes down in 3-3.5 hours.

Usually is up within 4-5 hours.

the only one I ever saw 100% lit was the one Strates had before he got the new one in 88 with turbos.

It was beautiful too, all white tubes, white bulbs on the stars with one red one at the tip, not a light out, very sharp.

Well Charlie did a great job, always looked great in those green and yellow colors.
