Learned this morning that a longtime MCW member, former game owner, and GTSA past-president Bob Mason has passed. More info when I can find it.

Chris and Matt

Sixcat and I go back Many years. We met and started our travels in 59 when he talked me in to going with Playtime Shows. (Ed Burr). I knew his mom and dad quite well. (Marge and Chet, two of the greatest people you could ever meet) A few years back I got to meet his wife Linda, another great lady. Sixcat and I had a friendship that lasted all these years as we kept in touch off and on over the years. I have tons of memories and stories I could tell but not now. This really shocked me. He did have health problems but I didn't think it was this serious. He was a real showman and a true Carney. He had recently moved from Tampa to TX This was his life and he lived it as a promoter for it.

Linda, My prayers go out to you, if I can help in anyway let me know.

To the family and many friends Sixcat had my prayers go out to you.

Sixcat will be miss and the industry has suffered the loss of a good man

To all:
The pain and emptiness we all feel now know this, Sixcat has broken the chains of pain and sickness, he now rests in a better place watched over by a loving caring God. In time that pain will be replaced with the fondest of memories. There will be the occasional feeling of guilt of what you should have or should not done. Don't dwell on that, push those thoughts away with good memories. That is how you will attain your peace.

Rest in peace good and old friend, Thanks for your friendship.

What terrible news. Throughout the years here on MCW Sixcat and I didn't always see eye to eye, but I always respected his opinions and it was always very apparent that he knew what he was talking about. When I think about the "Golden Age of MCW" so to speak, people like Sixcat, Pinetar & Bossman along with a few others that have already left us come to mind, including Flamo who is fortunately still with us.

I've been saying it for years but all of these true "showmen" will one day be only a part of carnival history and lore and a lot of knowledge and history of the industry goes with each of them. I honesly believe every one of them could have written an autobiography full of interesting stories from their years in the business.

My condolences to Sixcat's family and although it had been a few months since he last posted here there's no doubt he will be missed by this board.

Robert Mason
September 3, 1941 - April 10, 2015

Obituary

Robert Mason, son of Chester and Marjorie Mason. Born in Manchester, NH on September 3, 1941 and died in New Braunfels, Tx on April 10, 2015 at the age of 73.
Bob grew up in Quiney, MA and forever called Boston his home. He was a lifelong "Carney" and proud of it. He loved everything about the carnival life, especially the people who were not only friends, but family. He was also the world's biggest sports fan. He was a supporter of all Boston teams, but could go on and on about all sports. The Red Sox however were his main love. Win or lose he remained loyal and as soon as one season ended he was counting weeks until spring training started again.
Bob was a loving husband to Linda. He loved and was so very proud of his children Christina, Robert Jr., William and Jennifer; his grandchildren, Emily, Kelly, Sean and Enza. He had two stepchildren Bonnie and Bryan that he thought the world of; and two step-grandchildren Jared and Aiden. He will be missed but not forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Zoeller Funeral Home.
