The lights on the midways are not quite as bright. We have lost a true showman, Bob Ash. God needed Bob in Heaven sooner than we had hoped. I know the cotton candy in Heaven will be a little sweeter for God's little Angels with Bob making his very special floss. Please keep Bob in your heart and Rosie in your Prayers. Robert E. “Bob” Ash entered his heavenly home on August 25, 2014 at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor at the age of 83. Bob was born in Gregory’s Run, West Virginia to Paul and Edith (Gerrard) Ash. He moved to Florida in 1969, first to St. Petersburg and then in 1980 to Palm Harbor. He was a member of Curlew United Methodist Church, Clearwater Noon Lions Club and a 60 year long member of the Masonic Order, beginning as a young man in DeMolay.
Survivors include his wife, RoseMarie; sister-in-law, Brenda; special friends, Jack “Nook” and Mary Jacobs; and his 3 sidekicks, Popper, Jake and Princess. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; 1 sister; his first wife, Patty and his beloved miniature horse, Buttons.
Some may remember Bob from Nutter Fort (W.V.) Hardware or the Rollerdome; but most can still see him making those delicious candy apples or that sweet cotton candy. He was a hard worker, a joker and most of all he was a gentle, loving man, loyal and faithful to God, family and friends. Bob was true to his favorite Winston Churchill quote:
You make a life by what you get
You live a life by what you give.

You will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held at Curlew United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 3:00pm. A reception will follow at the church fellowship hall. A burial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation suggestions are: Curlew United Methodist Church, Suncoast Hospice, Shriners Hospital for Children or Alzheimer Association. A Happy Ending
When the show on earth is over
And the Master says "time to go
The angels here in heaven
Are waiting for your show,"
We must go on as He beckons,
We must quickly slough and fly
For He knows our show is needed
For His children in the sky.

Yes, there'll be carnivals in heaven,
With bright lights and fun galore.
And the organ will sound sweeter
Than you've ever heard before.
There'll be Eli wheels and scramblers
Merry go Rounds for wee ones too
God, Himself, the supervisor,
And we Carny folks the crew.

The angels on the "Jinny" ride
Playing music pure and sweet
For the cherubs on the horses
Galloping round on wooden feet.
There'll be popcorn and cotton candy,
With just a deeper pink,
Perhaps a little sweeter
Since it's made in heaven don't your think?

The "jump" from earth to heaven
Will be the grandest one of all,
Without a single breakdown,
With no truck motor to stall.
So let's make the show a good one,
While here on earth we dwell,
So when we set it up in heaven,
God will say: "A job done well." A. Kolin

Bob Ash was in the carnival business 48 years. We know he has made many children with wonderful memories throughout his career. He was indeed a great showman..
