I can't say that too loud, tho - because I know you would like a KMG Freak Out on your show just as much as I would on mine (and that's definately not a US ride...). Then again, I'll take a good Chance Zipper or Flying Bobs any day for sake of well built long lasting American rides...

SHHH!...but how i would love a freak out!

It sure would be a nice fit for Blue Sky, provided all the numbers would work for you guys. Never hurts to look at all the possibilities...[:D]

WOW! Can anyone beat this one? Might be an old MGR or wheel out there to top this one, that is still on the road. Eli Bridge's first wheel was out in 1900...

I don't know the ages on the rides but I would have to say there are a lot of rides on Wisconsin midways that have some age to them and are still on the road. Rides that come to mind...

People's Shows Roll-O-Plane, The Rock-O-Planes with Wenzel's Amazements, and Indianhead Amusements are in good shape but I know they have some age to them. People's had a Merry Mixer that looked pretty old yet well maintained and their Merry Go Round was solid wood and looked pretty old too. I know when I rode the Tilt this past year at People's lot the ride had it's own engine that wasn't fed by the power plant. Spectrum's Tip Top looked like it had some years on the road too. Some of the Wheels seemed pretty old too on Wenzel's, and People's lots. Does anyone know the years on some of these rides mentioned? I would like to know how old they really are even if they aren't the oldest on the road. It was great to see the older equipment in such good shape I will say that.

A.T.S. out here in CA. is still moving his 1935 ELI Wheel with the serial # of 17035. I have posted a picture-not very good-on my webshots of the spec plate attached to the ride.

I believe that particular ride was mfg'd somewhere between the two world wars (either just before or just after WWII - it's a Smith & Smith ride... Someone might be able to bring this more details...

We operate a 1956 Allen Hershell 36' 3-abreast carousel - original wood platforms (minus repairs). [8D]

Our's is a 56 as well. We switched it over in '85 to the D.P. floors and the Chance scenery. The serial number is 26. Any idea what G.A.S.'s is?

Did you see their new used 16 seat wheel at any spots this year?

Ours does not have the original '56 scenery package on it, but I know it is VERY close in age to that. The platforms, horses, center, sweeps, etc. are all original though. When we acquired the ride, it had already been converted over to a trailer mounted center. I'm not sure off hand what the serial is, but I know I can locate it on the center (just haven't tried as it's documented on our registrations for inspections - but I'm on a six-month vacation and don't have those papers with me <grin>).

I've seen a couple of the Signature-16 Eli Wheels - I think they are beautiful rides, especially considering the tradition of what a ferris wheel has to offer for cosmetic improvements (seeing as how there isn't much really to a ferris wheel). I don't know if this is what you're talking about or if you're talking about a wheel that ATS has...

Hoffa-I saw the 16 seat Mulligan Wheel this year-looks nice.I stayed around and watched them take it down-several men several hours. But to be fair it is new to them and the tubs rack strange so there is little room to work. Kenny and a big hammer seemed to be the answer after a while. LOL

I cannot top some of the older rides that have been posted so far, but Doug Clark Attractions here in Michigan has an old Mangel's Fire Engines that looks brand new, as well as a Skyfighters and an Allan Herschell Ponycart and a Molina Coaster. And Family Funtyme Amusements operates a Tilt-A-Whirl that I was told was built sometime in the 1950's. Kiddieland Ride Company operates an older gas-engine Loop-O-Plane. Wymer Amusements has a Smith and Smith Chairplane that is pretty old. Wymer and Kiddieland are based in Toledo, Ohio. A number of shows have an Allan Herschell Skyfighters. Jon Tilton operates an Allan Herschell Flivver (antique autos) with Mid America Shows that was built around 1962, and it looks brand new, one of only two portable ones left on the road. Star Valley Amusements operates a number of old King rides, as well as an old Allan Herschell Ponycart. Jules and Beck operates an old Ponycart as well. Wymer operates an old ten-seat gas engine Garbrick Wheel that was originally a ground mount, but was later mounted on a trailer. And a number of shows operate a g/m Scrambler--Wade (2), Arnold Amusements, Family Funtuyme, A.J. Carl Shows, Skerbeck Brothers Shows (2), Schmidt Amusements (2), Elliotts Amusements, Doug Clark (gas engine). Wade Shows also has an original Bulgy-The-Whale from the early 1950's (my Dad says he remembers riding it at the Michigan State Fair when he was a child in the early 1950's), along with an Eyerly Midge-O-Racer. Skerbeck also used to have a Midge-O-Racer, not sure if they still do. And G.T.A. Amusements operates some old King rides as well. Well, that is what I can add top this. Great topic by the way! [:)]

Probably an old Ground-Mount Eli Wheel. The Bierbaum & other mounts required the removal of the orig. data plates, but could possibly be made up from parts that are really old. And with rebuilding, it's hard to say if any ride is original as the old Eli's had wooden seats & no hair guards, so they would be new, however the towers & sweeps could be from the era before WWI.
