I visited Windy City's winter quarters today to check out progress made on a complete refurbishment of their new (used) Himalaya. This is the company's second Wisdom Himalaya. The ride is a 1999 and was purchased from a show in Canada near the end of the 2008 season.

The ride was completely stripped down to the trailer frame and rebuilt. When I say rebuilt, I do not just mean sandblasting and painting.... I mean gutted. They cut out all the bad steel and replace it with good, fixed bad tubing in the rafters, rewired the ride and lights, rebuilt the gear and hub assembly, fixed all the mirrors on the marquee, diamondplated the trailer, and of course repainted the ride.

Photos can be seen in the MCW photo gallery below:

Click on the MCW main gallery, Windy City Amusements, Winter Quarters 08-09 and then Himalaya Projects to access the gallery.

Unfortunately the order of the photos is not in proper sequence, but, I think you should still be able to follow along. Just be sure to pay attention to the captions.

For the 2009 season, this Himalaya will be a new addition to the first unit.

Enjoy!!! I will be posting photos of the completed project when it is finished within the next week or two.

Looks like the Wisdom Factory over there Matt. Will both Himalayas have the same color? Thanks again for the pics.

Glad everyone is enjoying the photos. The ride was in pretty poor shape especially the more they took apart the more they found. It was in definite need of a refurb.

Sean, the original himalaya (the 2000 model) will stay blue and obviously the new, 1999 model is teal. 🙂 They will not be doing as in depth of a job to the 2000 though. It just needs some minor cosmetic, paint, and wiring repairs.
