Midway of Fun/Brass Ring is the same owner, goes by both co. names. Accident is all over the TV this morning. Looks like the YOYO arms must have collapsed as the ride was full and spinning.

Hi Folks:

This is the same Yo Yo that MOF had at the Contra Costa County Fair last year. Prior to that I had never seen this particular unit. I too am curious as to whether it is show owned or booked on.

Have there been any other accidents with a Yo-Yo before? This is the first one I recall.

Here's hoping to a quick and complete recovery for those involved.
I've never been "with it", just been an interested observer of carnivals for more than 50 years.
Johnny's United Shows..."A Family Tradition" and "All for Fun, Fun for All".
The carnival of my youth, which had roots that originated in my hometown.

Just watched the video on msnbc.com, it almost sounds like the ride was off balance. They said they heard squeaking noises before it happened.Judging by the photos they showed it got to bouncing and popped the top seal of the ram.IMHO.[?]

I just watched the MSNBC video on the story.

If it is true that the ride had been making unusual noises, and that they were ignored, then watch out.

My thoughts and prayers are with those who were hurt and their families. I'm hoping everyone recovers.

I saw a report this morning about this accident on our local news here in Dayton Ohio...usual BS, they were saying things like..."just how safe are our children on these carnival rides" and "what can be done to ensure safety with these rides". Same spue, different incident.

Has anyone heard an official cuase yet?

I know that the center hydraulic shaft is always a tedious inspection... but who knows at this point.

Just horrifying... can't even imagine if my children were involved in something like that.
