First, I would like to congratulate Beau Pugh, "float chairman" who took the late ricky starkey's dream to build this float and making his dream come alive by showing the IISA board of directors a way to raise money for our charities and get the job done. It is thinking like this that keeps the gibtown club strong. The float is well on its way to bringing in plenty of scratch. Instead of just spending money our goal is spend it, if you can get a return to keep this club alive and strong. The scholarship is the first to receive profits made from the float.

The day parade grossed over $13,000 on admissions only. Riders and walkers were charged $$125.00 to ride or walk. you received krewe beads, shirt, throwing beads, unlimited draft beer. cocktails were an additional 25.00 wristband for all you could drink.extra beads were sold on board.

Like i mentioned before, Beau was under a lot of pressure to even get ready for the parades. a bunch of behind the scenes work needed to be done just to get accepted.all this while his wife tara was giving birth to their first child. nothing like added pressure. I'm sure Beau will be the first to tell you none of this would have been possible without the generous donations and hard work by many, man,. dedicated hardworking members too numerous to mention.

One donation I will put some pressure on beau to get will be from Marianne Reithoffer. While everyone on the float had shower cheap shower curtain hooks on their bead belts. Bob Pugh had high tech quick release bead holders givin to him by marianne. They were Reithoffer key chain holders. lol

The IISA float won best association float which guarantees acceptance into next year's parade. This is something that is not taken lightly by the parade officials. Every float fights for acceptance every year, it is not a given if you've been there before. We were also asked to be in 2 other parades. and working on getting into this year's night parade.

Floating To Victory
Krewe officials announced the following parade winners:

.
Krewe Float: Unsinkable Krewe of Molly Brown
.

.
Special Award: Get A Life Marching Band

our float was so much fun we had members of other krewe's joining our float, and we picked up hitchhikers from a float that broke down along the way.

again i want to emphasise that spending at gibtown is being focused on projects that will bring members together for a good time and raise enough money to cover any expenses and put money into our charities. this project is a definite WINNER.

I just want to add my congratulations to everyone involved. The Float turned out great. I am very proud to see that 2 of the floats my family has built won awards this year, the Unsinkable Krewe of Molly Brown, and the IISA. Good work everyone.

I had a wonderful time !! Everything was well organized and when we pulled out from our staging location it was so clean , it was like we were never there, very important! I knew we would catch the committees eye and make a good impression. The float is beautiful and Beau did an outstanding job !

The hitch hikers were from the Ladies of the Crown. Their float broke! Connie Ames is a member of the Crown Krewe but she didn't roll yesterday, her husband mashed his foot [:(]. But I had called her from the float when we picked up her Krewe members and today she was telling me how much fun they said they had with us and how very thankful they were for the ride..... It's a long walk!

No offense to you Steve, you know I love you, but there is no need to apologize. It's not the first time our court's been taken away without any consideration to us, the loyal locals who frequent the club regularly and I'm sure it won't be the last. I mean, space is so limited and all. And, again, no offense to you, you're just the messenger. I don't usually wear "vollyball shoes" to trade show anyway,[;)] but my fellow vollyballers will be bummed. OK, enough complaining...on a lighter note, Jimi and I were on the float and we had an absolute blast as you can see in a couple of the pics! Can't wait till next time.

Hey, good idea! I don't even have to change into bowling shoes to bowl at the IISA lanes! Although I may need to call ahead and make reservations, LOL!
