I'm curious, do most carnival operators tear down the same night as the carnival/fair is over, or do they wait until the day after? With Lynam's they usually start teardown shortly after last ride of the night.

It would depend on how long the jump is, & when next opening day is. I used to work a spot that would let us leave the skywheel up for 2-3 days so we could repair, repaint, clean, etc. in preparation for the next spot, a state fair, a week & a half later & only 2 hrs. away.
Some spots we would have to tear down at close, circus jump to the next spot & setup again immediately.[xx(][xx(][:(!]
All Skywheels should be yeller.

In Chicago, just about every show tears down the same night that they close and move to the next spot by the next morning. Of coarse, most of the spots are fairly close by in this area [:)]

It is on rare occasion that tear down doesn't happen the last day of the event. In most cases set up started the next day depending on the jump. For some unknown reason rides come down faster at night[?] On the last day of the event and as closing comes where possible operators change into thier teardown clothes and remove non essential components such as scenery, ballys, or even MGR tops. I've stripped the canvas of many a MGR while it was in motion. OSHA would never approve and one has to be careful not to get it caught in the cranks or get greaase from the journals on it.

Teardown in the rain, mud, & grease when it's 85 degrees in the middle of the night & muggy. Oh boy, those were the days..... NOT.[:(]
Better than high noon though, or 45 degrees & rainy & windy.
All Skywheels should be yeller.
