This may be a old topic, however, just getting bored reading about nothing. Any comments on the best fixers, i.e., Patch, still alive or gone in the business. This may be of good or bad information, again, just trying to get something going.

Good list, however, I wouldn't call Larry a fixer. Never saw Buddy work but I do agree on Lionel. Sonny was a one of a kind, so wasn't Danny R. Danny Dell and John Campi make all my lists because both came to my last wedding. [;)] Of that list if I had a serious beef, I'd choose Campi to square it. Lionel second.

No dispute with your asessment Sixcat...

You seem to know your players when it comes to patchwork...

I meant Larry's had more beefs to square than all the others put together...

Except for maybe Allman Brannon...

Koza shoulda been on the list ...

Joe Ross was capable too...

Mark Popovitch...

Fritzie Reynolds, Reno.
I remember a couple of times when Reno came out of "the city" to play some of our spots. We were setting up in a shopping center in upstate NY. The head of the detective squad approached me and told me, "If you have "those" games here like you had in other places you've played....YOU'RE going to jail." I made a call to Reno telling him that the spot was sloughed for flatstores. He said, "Like hell it is!" When he showed up on opening day, he was walking around with the detective like they were best friends. The detective couldn't look me straight in the eye. LOL
Another time, we were covering the Great Barrington Fair for Gooding's New England unit. The chief of the town police showed up and closed all the games, except my machine gun joint, punk rack and bust one balloons. The rest.....two 8 man flats, two line-up flats, a splashdown and my two alibis were shut down. Reno took the chief aside but the man was being unreasonable and the joints stayed closed opening day. The next day all were opened and banging away. Seems that since it was a state recognized agricultural fair, the local police didn't have any jurisdiction on the grounds. The captain of the local Troop of State Police was our "new Best Friend" that week and the local fuzz was pratted out of the picture.

You guys gotta help me out...

Sonny Dickerson sounds so familiar. Who was he?

A man's legacy isn't the business he leaves behind; it's the family he leaves behind.

Can only tell you what I remember. I first met Sonny with Buck-Page shows. He came in and took the front end after Don Miller. Might have been 1970 give or take a year or 2. He kind of underestimated New York State. He went there wide open and got slapped down almost every week. Later in the 70's he had his own show with mostly booked on rides playing around Miami in the winter. I don't know if he went up north with it or not. Joe Marchiano and I had a grab joint around him in the winter for a few years. I also had a grind store there off and on. I lost touch with him for a while and heard back a few years ago he has count stores in a casino some where in the islands off shore. Sonny was always a mover. He was fun to be around and loved to bet football back then.
