Hi I just wanted to let you know that I now have a fair number of models on Shapeways 3D printing site now. I recently added a few game joint parts and today I added a pretty ighly detailed Sellner Spin ride trailer.

https://www.shapeways.com/shops/carnivalkits

This is a link to the site that shows the rides. just click on the model at the left to see the parts of the model.

Those look real good! Just a bit confused on some of the pricing. For example what do I get with the Rio Grande train ride that's $45? Looks like the complete train ride but seems too cheap compared to all the individual parts? I mean the color photo on the first page near the top.

Also really intrested in the Enterprise tubs. Do you know if those will fit the RAH kit? Also, what does it mean to be in BETA mode? Do you know when those will be available to be made?

And one more dumb question, where do these stand on quality? They look pretty good, are they somewhere in Faller's league as far as realism?

Hi Matt and Dr nick, First of all Beta means that I still may make changes to the model. I usually print one and if I do not like it or it does not fit for some reason then I make changes and resubmit. I have not been disapointed with the prints so far. WIll you see the lug nuts yes but will they be really sharp probably not but then again if you take a micromater and set it for 1 mm if you are like me you will need a magnifing glass to see it anyway and once you put a coat of paint on it some of the detail goes away. To be clear this printing service is not Injection molding so it will not be smooth. I have found a few coats of clear then paint works pretty good.

I have four guys making purchases and then making more and these guys are almost as pickey as me, ha ha ha so I guess that speaks to my work and the print ability. The only thing is the parts are grainy so you need to prep them with primer or clear as I said. I have build half a YOYO and a two RIOS and a Bulgy and A Hurricane ( it was on video posted here I think) and I know they are twice the quality I can do.

If you select any model, read the description, The Rio train explains what you are looking at. Picking and looking costs nothing and if there is any question email me before you buy. I have reprinted the bees 20 percent larger and they are smoking, I really like them and as I said I am pickey. Can't wait to see the elephants and sellner bears both on order. I also added bunkhouses and games and will have the groovy buy up tonight. This stuff is addictive and expensive. I am into to them around one thousand since I started this just to make sure the stuff is ok by me.

Enjoy.

Rich

Cant wait to see the sellner trailer. I was lucky enough to get about 35 pictures of one racked two years ago and put every detail into it that was on the pictures. you probably did not see but I even have wires coming off the battery!

Just LOVE carnival

Sorry did not answer the question about the RAH kit. I have no clue. If you give me a measurement between the support axles I can answer that. I made these for a guy that is making the ride out of metal and wants to lighten the load so the tubs fit his ride. They look pretty good to me but I would have to get a measurement to answer it. Maybe shoot a question to Ron and see what the number is?

I really like all this stuff Rich, will def buy a Rio. Do you sell track seperate without the extra scenery parts? Building a park model and would like extra track. Just saw the Groovy Bus ride that was added, will that track fit with the Rio track if I get both and chop them up to make a bigger track?

I have the RAH Enterprise kit someplace, I'll have to get some measurements and let you know.

Do you have any plans to make a conversion kit for the Faller Funschiff to turn it into the classic Pirat?

Hi, as far as extra track It would be cheeper I think to just use z ga track, They sell flex track that would work great. You can order the z ga wheelsets that the model is designed to use. Here is a link that has 10 actual feet of flex track for like 39 dollars….a whole lot cheeper than shapeways.

If you can find the kit get me the measurements and I will let you know.

As to the fun shif, if I had a kit I could look at what it would take to make a conversion kit, hint hint
Seriously if you wanted to send me yours (preferrably unbuilt) and I can get enough pictures I might be able to pull it off. Reguardles I would take good care of the kit and return it in a few mos.

glad you like my work. The prints are really good.

added Groovy Bus and track today. Looking for information on the trailer so I can add that.

Thanks dr nick, I would like to see pictures of it when you are finished and any feedback about how to make it better. I got my Sizzler this week and finished painting it today. It all fits and works and is ready to go as a static model. Here are some pictures of it. I also got my Selner trailer and it came out pretty good also. SOme of the details like the battery fill tubes and termainal do not show too well and I need to double check the width/length, it looks a little long to me. Anyway here are the sizzler pictures.
