yeah, a proper refurb is going to take some time, and then a lot of work around the route.

However, have to put my plug in here as well that I hope they can be booked into Columbia SC for the state fair one year. Would really like to see that beautiful piece in person.

And there hasn't been any type of Sky Wheel in Columbia for many many years.

rhino don't remember the year. Want to say early 2000's? Was still a Conklin midway. May have been one of the last few years conklin had the fair before NAME came about. Had never seen such an array of big pieces and spectaculars all on the same miday before, at least till North Carolina expanded their miday. They had 100 pieces there that year including the Doople Looping!

Yeah Conklin brought in "big" iron for SC years ago. Rides like the Doppel Looping, Wildcat, Drop of Fear, Flume, 2 G Wheels (European, Chance), Polar, Sno Ball, Big Himi.

Miss those days

Hold on to that Sky Wheel. With a little bit a work you could splice it between the center and one of the end trailers on the Space Wheel.🐔

Wouldn't adding a third wheel ruin the classic, one of a kind status of the Space Wheels?

It's ALIVE!!!

The Space Wheels once again are operational. We sill have to go through and do the cosmetic overhaul but the ride itself is up and running!

Wheels were on Royal American in the early 1960’s. In the first years they were booked on by Al Kunz.

I read here that CVS obtained then from Royal American and IIRC stored them in their WQs.

Great to see and watch them in the air again. Thanks for the photos and video clip.

Anyone can restore a classic; it takes a real man to cut one up.
