Voting for a third party candidate is like throwing a vote away but it does make a statement.

Until both parties can get along and find a middle ground compramise, we are screwed.

I was never for the tax cuts and I feel we need to go back to pre bush tax rates. It was a way to buy votes for the republican agenda and it worked quite well.

The only way to throw your vote away is to not vote. I'd rather vote my conscience than vote for someone who plans to screw me.

If enough people vote for a different party, one or both of the main parties will have to change their platform. Ross Perot is the latest proof of that.

People, this topic is turning ugly, we don't need the name calling and it wasn't meant to be a deep political discussion. It was meant to mock a statement and show how absurd what comes out of DC. The intent was to have fun with it, not crucify each other.

This type of attitude always puzzles me. Why would you not excercise your right to vote? People have died to give you that right.

Lots of people died for lots of reasons over the years. All I know is neither party cares one iota about me and neither presents real change. What I reject isn't a choice between two evils, because we all make such choices. What I reject is a false choice; Heads you win, Tails I lose.

Well....you must be a "white is right, poor is wrong right winger". How could you post such a harsh quote, lol? BTW, didn't Obama hold Lincoln up as one of his role models?"

Nope-I don't think I am a right winger-in fact I am not sure any single label fits me because I think kinda independently on most subjects. Some right-some middle-some left-and also I like to stir the pile up a little once in a while just because.

White is right-nope
Poor is wrong-nope

You would have a hard time trying to get a single label that fit me unless there is a label that means "All over the board"

As far as what President Obama thinks about Lincoln I have no idea.

Another quote of A Lincoln that I like is what he said one morning after a killer drunk night. "I freed the what?"

REMEMBER: it's one thing to state an opinion - but it's another thing to turn it into a personal attack with name calling and the likes...

Think before you let a post get to you - think before you take it personally... Discussions like this can be good, but there's a fine line between being good and being nothing but a flame war...

This topic is a waist of time, its to late for the people
To do anything, because the liberal, socialst have control
Of the government, and the united states,RON PAUL was
The only real hope for change for this country, obama will
Win again, because hes a bought and paid for president, and he
Will countiue to Brain wash the stupid people of the world to believe
In his ways of fixing the problems in the world, are problems
R way too big for one to fix,its going to take everybody!
I know things that could happen tomorrow and that would
Have a great impact for change

Close federal reserve
Close wall street
End the wars
Set gas price at 2.00 a gallon
End welfare
And get rid of the income tax, but at the same ti,e raise the sales tax
By 2%

If you think about it,I just named the top six areas of government

Close wall street and there will be investment capital.
End wars... maybe but do we let terrorist run free?
It cost 1 to 3 million to drill a well, and shipping and refining $2 isn't practical. You don't want govt control then why is the gov going to set that price?
Change welfare to workfare. Some people really need help others make it a way of life.

To ALL

Did you listen to the speech by BHO. No matter how you cut it was divisive. Elizabeth Warren, one of BHOs people made almost the same speech. It pits the haves against the havenots. Just what did any of us do to create what Matt has created? This a part of socialism. It only creates and entitlement society. Take from one and give to another. You, my friend, are enjoying the fruits of Matt's creativity, labor and investment. And when the argument comes up about what the govt built, keep this in mind, a need was met, people built it but a job for many. They got paid for what they did paid for by those who earn. The other half of the equation is what did the takers contribute? They have their welfare, food stamps, Flat screen, cell, car all at the earners expense. "Some jobs don't pay a living wage" They were never meant to, they are entry level. You don't make enogh money... develop the skill sets and move up. WHen I start in this business I started as 2nd man on a wheel. I busted my butt and learned, developed the skill sets to let me move up the ladder. When I retired from private industry I was the senior maint tech. WHile in our industry there was almost nothing I couldn't do. That includes management skills. I did it on my own, I got no help. I took jobs I didn't like but I made it if nothing else a learning experience. It boils down to... why should I work for it whn I can Whine a little and it will be given to me?

That is one problem with society. Everyone wants the big position with the big salary. I went to four years of college to be an engineer and my first job was a drafter, well below my skill set and I didn't get paid that well either considering I had a 4 year degree. Well I worked from drafter to designer and finally to engineer within the same company. I learned a lot from the "lesser" jobs that I did. I hear talk from drafters and designers how something isn't there responsibility and they shouldn't have to do this or that because they are not getting paid for it. I think that you need to go above what you are expected to do, in order to get to the next level. Not many employers today are going to pay you until they know that you can do it. If I would have said when I first started working that I am just a drafter and am not going to do any design, I would probably still be just a drafter.
It is what you learn, after you know it all, that counts.

Benji

Thats for telling it like it is. I hope everybody reads your post. That is just how life is. In my years on the lot a saw more guys claim they were a foreman and couldn't move a ride with out supervision and look out if it needed maint. Then cried because I got paid more. I could do their job but they couldn't do mine. When I started doing heavt Industrial maint I worked my way up. When I retired we had people that got paid less than I did. The company didn't want to give me a decent raise because I was making more than the other maint people. My reply to them was bring them up to my level if they can do the job I do but don't punish me. AFter I left the big plasma cutter was down more than in operation. They spent thousands on a new system... Good business decision. Thanks again

Tre,

Companies are not in business to accommodate employees. They are in business to create and satisfy a demand for a profit. Their first obligation is to the shareholder. If that obligation isn't met the company will have no capital and will fail. Then there are no jobs. WHen you go to buy a car do you give extra to employees on the lot and factory? Nope, you try to get it as cheap as you can. Same applies to business. Businesses compete to provide a product or service at the cheapest price possible so they can stay in business. If you owned a restaurant, I guess, and you had 20 people working for you and business dropped off what is the first thing you would do? Keep employees to stand around or start laying off? If you paid for insurance and the rates increased to where it was costing more than you could afford, what would you do then? Raise prices and drive customers away?

The goal of any company is to make enough profit as possible. Sometimes the company and owners get greedy with how much they make and therefore pay as little as they can. That does not mean you need to just sit back and take it. Go out and look for another job. Often when you change jobs, you can increase your salary but you do risk over selling yourself and not being able to fit into the new place of work. Often places of employment open their eyes when somebody leaves or they need to add a worker because of increased work load. Places that treat their employees expendable, often can find replacements rather easily.
