I processed an iMovie and saw that I was using 6 cores plus 6 virtual cores for a total of 12 on a 3+ gig movie,
60% of CPU power, compressed to under 300 megs quickly.

What I lack is ram, 3gigsdefault, then using 3gigs of virtual ram. Might look at 2_8 gig chips or 3x8. Only 4 slots.

I need final cut pro 3 suite on the intel chip. On the way from b&h.

That's a beast -- virtual RAM is a bottleneck - only effecient on an SSD drive (and even then still a bottleneck). Keep apps from using it -- save it for system reserved usage -- Apps need physical RAM to operate at peak
