Updated: 05/17/08 6:43 AM
Hamburg police detectives are seeking those responsible for damaging and stealing nine industrial-grade power cords on amusement rides at the Southtowns Christian Center this week.
The cord were cut between Sunday and Wednesday. The rides were set up for the center’s carnival this weekend, police said. However, the cords have been replaced, and the carnival is expected to operate on schedule.
Each cord was about 150 feet long and weighed 300 pounds. The cords, owned by Hammerl Amusements of Amherst, were likely harvested for the scrap value of the copper inside them, police said.
Police are seeking witnesses. Call 648-5118, Ext. 2521.
