It was very busy. Had a nice vist with Bobby Myers before opening. He rode us around on his Polaris and we talked for over an hour. Show looks very very good on all fronts. It's a weird lot...right in downtown Lexington Tn..two level lot with the kiddie land up on an old concrete pad that used to be home to a factory and the rest of the layout down below in gravel and I mean TIGHT. This show just gets better and better. Popes Concessions had most of the food and their trailers look great too and they've got the best damn ice cream bars you'll ever eat!
Chatted with Glenn Geren about 20 mins or so. Show was a good three or four hours from opening that night. It was a very muddy lot and had been for a few days so the midway aisles although paved, were very dirty and tracked up. They were still putting up rides two days after opening because of soft ground having to dry out. Glenn said the New Delta Fair in Memphis was really good and would have been very good if not for rain the last weekend. Myers had seven pieces booked in which really helped a lot. Geren's Loop O Plane was racked off the lot and the Zipper was nowhere in sight.
Bluegrass looked good at the TN State Fair. Was surprised to see Van Hull's Zyklon booked on. They were missing their big himalaya type ride but most everything else looked good. They probably had the most umbrella's and benches of any show I've ever seen. J.J. Murphy was busy working on the Kiddie Swings so we didn't get time to talk and weren't able to locate Jim Murphy. This is a nice looking spot to see Bluegrass. Sky Wheel looked as good as ever and they have got to have the best looking Spider out there today.
I had intended to visit McMinnville and Fayetteville on Friday and Knoxville on Saturday, but cut the trip short for various reasons.
Up Next: Jackpotter and JohnC hit Raleigh, Columbia SC and Anderson SC for a three day road trip. Hopefully we can see Used Rides.com as well.
