I understand your point about where the money goes, but greedy money management should'nt be the rally cry to call the whole thing off. If all the little guy members would get together and tell the fat cats to cut that sh*@ out, I think things would start to change. I'm not really anybody in this industry, but I've always been welcome at any open meeting and I've rarely seen more than 100 people at any of them which is about 2% of the membership. If 2,000 members ever did show up, those guys wouldn't know what to do.

The strength of numbers in the oaba is helping to preserve our industry we should also be able to use it to keep our lobbing efforts strong.

the honorable red wood was very active o.a.b.a but if you recall the click put his relative butch webb off the board for personal reasons and red was not active anymore this happens on a regular basis in the o.a.b.a they miss the whole point of why this was started and what the organization is for not for bob johnsons personal use or al 10 percent derushas plus his expenses which makes it between 20 or 25 percent of the money you give to them also the same click is doing the same thing in the sla purchased a 2500 dollar painting from ed gregory with your money suppose to auction off last fall so the club would get their money back the current president said that is the way it is or too bad i guess the sla bought a painting with your money why did the person who made the deal pay

Maybe I'm really gullable or idealistic, but as an ordinary member of the OABA I'm not at a loss as to what the assoc. does. If you aren't sure, read the legislation actions in the Showtime. I also won't ever forget the check that showed up to help bury a fallen member. That's included in the membership.

Yes, I'll agree that most of the member benifits they offer are hokey if you are already an owner, but if you are a simple employee, this might be the first time in life you had a discount at anything. And I found that the savings at the IAAPA Convention to be worth 5 years dues.

And as for the "flatties" that founded the organization, I was raised in this business by one of the founders, and I'm sure no one will question the integrity of F.G. Woods. I couldn't of had a better mentor.

why is the gibsonton club letting the o.a.b.a hold there board meeting at the club and then there big party is going to be held at sabel park do you think the show which is closing on saturday this year would benefit more with the party which is payed for by allied insurance not the o.a.b.a at the club rather then letting the sabal park and the o.a.b.a reap the harvest what did the o.a.b.a donate to the club last year or give to anyone else example gene chafee

i was a card caring member of the o.a.b.a till i became educated to what it was all about. realy its hard enuff to make a dollar in this biz in the current condition of the economy and all the negative feed back we receive for being in this biz to began with. if im going to blow my money im going to let it ride on the tables at the casino. at least ill benefit if my number comes up instead of bob johnson or any one else thats spending my hard earned money. and yes i am a card caring member of the gibtown club.
i dont smell em i just tell em......
Good job of not answering a single question!
Its not impossible it just costs more.
first of all look at the guys that started the o.a.b.a and the big insurance company that is supposed to be a allied in our biz. they were all started by old flat store agents so what does that tell you. i think alot of people should totaly boycot the o.a.b.a.
i dont smell em i just tell em......
there needs to be some sorta reorganization and there should be alotta people on board that know what the problems are out there and try to fix it...the problem is in my opinion its a ship without direction and the whole industry is like that...well eventualy you will sail into something, the question is what and will it be good or bad. the thing i don't get is if there so important and play roles why dont they stand up and be more noticed?
You'll miss us when were gone....
the o.a.b.a did a lot for gene chafee he turned in money for years and was a good friend of the late dick janas they were suppose to send him 6000 dollars to help with his problem the check is still in the mail what the heck do they have the right because someone on the board does not like someone no money i bet if one the click was in trouble the money would be there al 10 percent derusha and bob johnson are flying around on your hard earned money remember you do not have to give if you do not want to and maybe they will get the message of what the o.a.b.a is for and why it was started not there personal advancement

So because you believe that whatever show or shows you've been on keep the money instead of actually giving to the OABA that means the OABA doesnt work? Its not really the OABA's fault if a show collects money and doesnt turn it in. How are they supposed to keep up with that? They cant its impossible. You ask what the OABA has done for you? What do you want them to do? What have you done for the OABA?
Here's a link to their benifits page.

Its not alot but for what it costs to be a member its not bad.
What does your local club do for you? Are you active in your local club?
