I did nothing in photoshop. This picture was taken manually on my Olympus 720 Ultrazoom camera.

We have 3 big fairs of this size. There is Newcastle Hoppings from the last weekend in June to the first weekend in July, Nottingham Goose Fair whis is the day before the first Thursday of October to Saturday.

Finally there is Hull which you have seen the picture of. This fair starts on the same Friday of Goose Fair to the following Saturday.

No kidding , and they look jammed up .
So, in a few years, if you're walking down a midway and see a Sixcat or a Swinger or a bucket, look around. You might recognize an old man with a smile on his face. Especially if he's saying, "Hey Buddy, can I ask ya?" -sixcat,circa. 2007

That is one sweet looking midway!

I have attached a picture of Hull Fair taken in October 2003. For me this was the premier fair of 2003 in England.

With over 80 adult rides makes it one of the largest fairs in the country along with Nottingham Goose Fair and Newcastle Hoppings.

Starting in the bottom left of the picture you can see and Apple Coaster built by Pinfari. Dominating the picture was the Mondial Capoila open at is first UK fair going by the name of Eclipse it cost its Belgium owners over £500,000. At 165 feet high it was also the tallest ride ever to open on tour apart from Bungee Balls.

Going further up includes Wilson’s Superbowl and Atha’s Waltzer, Completing that row.

Returning to the bottom of the picture just off centre to the right is Taylors KMG Freakout costing £380,000. This is very expensive for a 1 load ride. Right next to that is Nobles Powersurge from Zamperla. While a popular ride in the US this is the first example in the UK and tends to find it hard with the competition at places. Its not a bad ride really.

Below you can see part of the first inversion another trackage of the Pinfari Tsunami owned by M&D Taylor the UK’s first Inverted travelling coaster. It is also the largest travelling ride on 11 loads at 250t and seen here at its first UK fair before moving onto London. It proved extremely popular with queues of over half an hour at £3.50 a ride. Tsunami clearly shows there is a demand for roller coasters on the UK circuit.

Just above Tsunami on that far right corner row are modern built rides of the Gallopers and Twist as well as a Miami behind the Twist by the name of Limbo Dancer.

Facing all that is Elliot Hall’s Top Buzz 2 Mondial Topscan, the twin ride of the UK’s most famous spinning flat ride Top Buzz 1. Here at Hull was the 2nd time Top Buzz 2 has appeared in Top Buzz 1’s place and is just as popular as the 1998 £800,000 ride.

Above the Topscan arm one can see the Sobena Matterhorn of Harris family. Moving right along that row are more examples of two of the most common rides around Robinsons Waltzer and Harris’s Dodgem in this case providing fine examples of their type of ride.

Another example of the must have ride of 2003 is Silcocks Freakout flying into the sky while facing that on the far right of the picture you can see the flood lights of Abie Danters ‘compact’ Reverchon spinning Mouse. Unlike the standard Mouse this is a smaller, more compact design travelling on 4 loads while offering a very similar ride even if the actual ride time is shorter and a more affordable price tag of £630,000.

Towering 142 feet into the air is Mellors Big Ben shot and drop tower while just behind that to the left is a Sizzler model of the popular Twist ride in its red lighting.

Above the twist is the latest and most impressive Model of the N.A Superrides Superstar the Outrage owned by the Danter family really standing out in its red, blue and yellow lighting. Facing that to the left you can see the red lighting of the Crows owned City Hopper built by Safico and might be better known as Techno Jump or Jump & Smile.

Going above the fore mentioned rides you can see the yellow and pink structure of Mellors Magic Mouse at standard Reverchon Crazy Mouse on its first visit to Hull in a few years and cost £750,000 in 1998.

Behind the Magic Mouse are two of the tallest rides travelling. First are the yellow, red and blue arms of Wallis’s Vertigo Booster built by Far Fabbri, costing over £250,000 and towering 136 feet into the air.

To the right of that are the yellow arms Reaves Bungee-ball which shoots riders over 260 feet into the air. To the right of the Mouse you may see a row of lights stretching out along the road. This leads to a few other rides one of which can be seen just to the right of Big Ben Tower (around half way up the tower) the Gallopers of the Armitages.

Heading back to the Booster just under the lower left arm of the ride you can see the red track and yellow tower of Millers Toboggan coaster built by Chance and is almost as brutal as Blackpool’s Wild Mouse.

Still moving left from the Booster the yellow lights of Robinsons very impressive dodgem track can be seen. While just under the left end a Round Up can be seen in full flight. Next to that to the left largely hidden by the Booster is a similar ride in the form of a Paratrooper with yellow lighting.

Hull is a very large fair. Highlight rides that cannot be seen on the picture include James Mellors Far Fabbri Frisbee, Crows KMG Equinox Tango and Extreme Remix, M&D Taylors Eclipse Far Fabbri Contact and Reverchon White Water Flume. D Taylors Technial Park 80 foot high 2 load wheel and M&D’s 135 foot high Far Fabbri Giant Wheel from which this picture is taken from.
