No the Blue Streak was not running all last season. I talked to Lisko in Hershey and he said they need to do some work to the curves of the track, and perhaps could get it up & running this coming season. Then do work to it each of the next 3 years to total restoration. It is a great ride! I rode it several years ago and it has a wicked first drop. The ACE people are all gung ho to get it running again. I really like that park. It is real pretty with a deep natural lake, old hotel (was being renovated when I was there), lots of trees, a neat train which they got running last year.
I was there in late May and it looked good. It is off the beaten path and a little difficult to find (needs better signage) and it competes with Waldameer in Erie (a short distance away) and with Kennywood to an extent. It needs to survive. It is owned by a trust and there are a lot of people with summer homes around the lake (with $$) that want to see it survive. So hopefully it will. It's had some tough times and a former owner who ran it into bankruptcy ( I think he is jail for his financial dealings). He really screwed it up. But it is still there and it looks good compared to a few years ago.
If you compare the pics from a few years ago to the 2009 ones you will see some improvements in paint, landscaping, cleanliness etc.

http://www.flickr.com/ph.../sets/72157620492289541/ the bare open area is where the old Ballroom used to be. A teenager arsonist burned it to the ground and some of the surrounding buildings too. Very sad. The lamp posts across the street from there were partially melted from the heat of the blaze. I think it happened the winter before. The game and food buildings near it were damaged heavily and can't be used. They will have to tear the rest of them down. It was one of those great old wooden ballrooms like Cedar Point has, and Waldameer has.
