He knew it was bad when he put it in the bag. And really after I looked at it, even if it was 100%, I didn't feal it is worth buying anymore. My biggest complaint is his quality control and actually before all these discssions started I was going to give him another chance. I thought maybe my experiance was an isolated incident but now I know it is the way he does thing. It just isn't acceptable.

I am going to start in the model ride kit bussiness. I am going to give you the materials to make a basic ride. Included are as follows: Lump of clay, assorted plastic strips, and a picture. All this can be your for $20. Send me a PM if your interested. I have all rides available.

Actually, I hope Ron is following this discussion and maybe he will take it seriously that he better increase his QA/QC on his models. Maybe we will start seeing some better products from him.

Thats funny [:D] but seriously I use clay sometimes and it works well.

I made my point before about RAH Models. Some agree with my opinion, some don't. That's fine. It's the people who misinterpret my opinions about the products and assume things that really bother me.
What do you get if you crossed a Merry Mixer with a Berry Go Round??

I mean some of these folks that are crying about how "rotten" RAH kits are and how they are "garbage" act like they expected to get a Faller kit for their $25.00; I mean come on, be realistic. Ron never says they are that nice, he says you get the parts to build the basic model and the rest is up to you.

How do you consider them "basic" if the molds come out like crap and you have to really "DOCTOR" them up to even look and resemble ride parts....

even you yourself said you have to really work at them to make them look good....

Besides I was not looking to get a faller ride for the price that Ron charges, just something that resembled an "ACTUAL RIDE" would be helpful

I am not saying that when complete, the rides don't look good cause some come out great, after all the hard work and "doctoring" that has to be done to the parts....

To me it's just not worth the time when I am limited to how much time of the day I have to modelling, some of us actually have a real job and aren't home during the off season screwing around....

First off, what I do and how I spend my time in the off season is my business and no one elses. I don't spend all day working on models, either, I spend some time in the evening while watching some television or maybe a movie. That's it.

All I said was that you have to put some effort into RAH kits, if you are not willing to put some effort into them, then don't bother. Heck, just about anyone can put an IHC kit together, but if you want it to look more realistic you have to put some effort into it and "doctor it up" (using your words). Maybe you just can't handle the RAH kits and don't want to admit it. All Ron is doing is filling a niche for those of us that can't afford all the Cummons models you can. You build those on your own? Again I ask what have you got to offer the model building community? Constructive criticism is fine, but jeez Louise....

By the way, anyone with complaints ever take it up with Ron? Or just beef instead? Not like he doesn't post and address, email address, and phone number!

I'm not saying that all the models suck balls (in fact I just finished a nice looking zipper and hampton boats) I'm just upset with the random quality problems like my giant slide that says gaint slide. Also when I ordered I ask about shipping and he said 2-3 weeks, 11 weeks later I got my models. Next time I would like him to just tell me he'll ship them when he feels like it instead of bulls***ing me.
Any way has anyone bought a COBRA from him?

I would say to stay away from the trabant. The casting I got was terrible and had so many holes in it. The platform wasn't straight and the fence had holes in it.

As I looked through the pictures there were a few like the zipper sides that looked good and usable. Then I saw the tilt. If the castings were good, it wouldn't be too bad then I saw the tops of the seats and thought what the f*** is that?

Basically RAH maybe good if you want a starting point for sizes. You can also do a pretty good job scaling things off of pictures and just scratch building it. Personally, if I had the time I would love to do a dimensioned drawings for modelers of the real rides to scratchbuild from.

The one key to scratch building is you need to have an eye out everywhere for parts. Sometimes, things you throw away can be used in model building. I have some balls that I think will be perfect for the tops to a tilt. I know that is just one part of the kit, but why pay $25 for something you can do yourself?

I just don't like the man's quality control. I would rather spend $50 or more and know that the parts I get are usable. That is my biggest complaint with RAH. I never expected a kit like IHC or Faller where you shake the box and it comes out complete. I knew it would require work but never figured it was that bad. It is just the prinicpal of the thing that I would rather spend extra time and build something myself then using one of his kits.

I have owned, at some point or another, many kits...and I can't really bash, nor praise the work. It's VERY hit and miss. Also, my brothers have bought the same ride, only to have the quality substantially better or worse then the same model I bought.
Zipper- other than trimming the excess from the boom, it wasnt that bad. The cars also need trimming, my biggest issue there was the drill holes in the tubs were crooked.

Kamikaze- Looked OK, actually never finished it, as Ron only supplied me with one tub lol

Ring of Fire - Really decent base model. Getting paint to stick to the ring it the hardest part. Lots of sanding and priming. Overall a nice model

Convoy- also decent, once again, its mainly trimming excess from the resin
Hamptons.....not too bad. the cycles I received were really bad though, pretty sure my brother is working on them now.

There are others, that I just said "forget it" on....I can't really say anything good or bad about them, as I never put the effort into them.

I will always classify RAH models as "base" models, meaning that you get some parts, and the rest is really up to you. Does that make it OK that the kits are sometimes of terrible quality? Well not really. I guess among ourselves here, we all agree that they are models that need a lot of extra work. I'm happy RAH makes the kits, as I am not all that great at scratch building.

Even at the moment, I am considering buying a couple of kits. Most likely a Zipper and some other parts. Do I look forward to all the work that I'll have to do...nope...but I know I can't 100% scratch one, so for 25 dollars, I at least know what I'm getting.

I am working on a fun slide right now from RAH. In the past I have built a fun slide, ring of fire, and alphine fun house. Those kits with a little work can be great. I like to add a lot of detail etc. so with RAH you the modeler need to create extra detail. A lot of the parts need a lot of work but with patience it can be done. I usually buy at least 2 of the same model so if I mess a piece up I have spare parts. On the other hand I bought a convoy, and zipper from RAH in the past that I never finished because the quality of the kits.
