Hey Chris, how difficult is it to set the three loads together like that on the giant wheel? Is there some play between the trailers or do they have to be butt up next to each other?

This I would not doubt. A friend of mine was working at the OC fair this year, and tried to take a few photos of the stuff racked (La Grande included). No employees or anything like that. A few things getting built, but nothing major. He says someone came up to him and told him he couldn't take anymore photos or he would be removed.
Try googleing somethign other then La Grande Wheel....Like Grand Wheel or the name of spots it plays along with wheel and see what you find....I found some good stuff that way....

I think the Transport pics will be kinda disappointing...I bet they are either containers or just flatbed trailers with no real racking job....
now I think you guys see what I mean. all these search results posted have yeilded some very nice pics of the La Grande wheel (and even some other large wheels), but still no racked or set ups.

This album has a few of La Grande Wheel from when I was waiting in line to ride it and aerials from the cars at OC Fair.

thanks for the Delmar pics Flying Coaster, but those are not the La Grande wheel. Those are the other very large (by most show standards) but smaller wheel that RCS has. I believe that wheel is the same as the Strates wheel and the one Conklin had (I think).

some of you know better than me, help me out if I am wrong but the saga continues in search of the elusive La Grande racked and set up photos. Chris is going to have to take a rode trip I guess.

That's their other big wheel. LA County fair is around the corner. I'm planning on going. I'll try to get a few shots of both wheels. La Grande and Giant play this fair together. I think. Last time I was there both were set up, unless they have another big wheel besides this one.

Chance Giant Gondola Wheel is four trailers, height is 88 feet, it sets up on three of the trailers.

I know the center trailer is the spoke load, then two tower loads with rims I assume, fourth trailer is a tub load?

Correct.

Got any racked pics Chris? Thanks.

I did find a little info on this ride that Matt C published here on 3/9/08 about the wheel according to RCS Maketing

🅱The La Grande Wheel moves on 18 trailers, takes 7 days to set up and 5 days to tear down. When purchased, along with equipment needed to move the ride, the final cost was close to $3 million dollars.

The wheel runs on two separate power plants; one for the drive system, and one for the lighting. 32 tubs rides 17000 people per hour. The station is capable of loading 6 tubs per stop.

288 total cap with 8 per tub. 5 turns per hour. I think you got a extra zero in there.....1700 per hour tops.

Google the name on the Tubs

Leads you to www.giantrides.com  among other sites...Enter site, go to L-Series and Click on model R-50 and there you go....
