On Saturday, May 5, 2018, the amusement industry lost one its younger show owners, Chad Edward Duchow, who together with his family, owned and operated Wisconsin based Mr. Eds Magical Midways.
Chad, loving son of Beverly Larkee, was born on June 16, 1973.
Chad volunteered for 22 years for the North Freedom (WI) Fire Department and worked his way up to become a captain. He was an avid hunter, but what brought him the most joy was watching his daughters grow up. In 2003 he took over his grandparent’s carnival and renamed it Mr. Ed’s Magical Midways, LLC in honor of his grandfather. Chad was an avid lover and supporter of the outdoor amusement industry, and his early passing is a tragic loss for the industry as a whole.
Chad will be lovingly remembered by his partner and best friend of 29 years, Lisa, and his two daughters Mariah and Sierra. He will also be dearly remembered by his mother, Beverly. He will be missed greatly by his Labrador retriever, Kaya.
He is survived by his loving partner, Lisa Weiland; mother, Beverly Larkee; two daughters, Mariah and Sierra Weiland-Duchow; mother and father-in-law Darrell (Marilyn) Weiland; two brother/ sister-in-laws, Craig (Mindy) Schuett; Mike (Tracy) Weiland; Uncle Tracy Larkee; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Edward and Irene Larkee.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Redlin Funeral Home (401 Madison Ave, Baraboo, WI 53913) with Andy Dear officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and then again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
