  • Rides 4U - New & Used Rides

Mike Wood On the Trade Show Floor, Mike Wood described what he called the "Best Run Ever" during the Fall of 2010. The Minnesota State Fair was great and he was able to bring his spectacular Mondial Magnum back after a one year hiatus while it played Sacramento, CA. The California State Fair changed its dates, allowing Wood to play Sacramento and then bring the ride to Minnesota. New for 2010 was a new glass house from Owen Trailers called the Magic Maze. The Magic Maze replaced Wood's Mardi Gras fun house and included a new theme and a new LED lighting package. Wood reported that the new piece gets a lot of riders at night compared to his old Mardi Gras that got most of the attention during the day. Much of this can be attributed to the flashy LED lighting system on the ride. His Mardi Gras was sold to Richard Tinsley of Tinsley Amusements. Mike's new Daytona ride from Fabbri (mentioned in Part I) is set to debut in Florida this spring. Deb and Tony Tufano - Tufano Amusements (Connecticut) A brief talk with Deb and Tony revealed they had a a good season, one of their best in the last few years. The couple was at the show looking to purchase a new ride, but were not sure what as of yet. We will try and follow up with them by show,s end. Mike & Thomas Lauther Thomas reported a great fall route, one of their best in recent memory. They still have the Broward County Fair to play in 2010 and then they re-open for 2011 in Seabring, FL for the Highlands County Fair; Naples, FL for the Collier County Fair; and the Florida State Fair in Tampa. Tony, Mike, Mark, Mark Jr Salero & Tim Nelson from Windy City WCA were at the show viewing the new rides and attractions. This fall, they sold some excess equipment and were at the show looking to purchase some new rides and midway enhancements. Mike Salerno said the company was busy in their Aurora, IL based winterquaters rebuilding their Eli Hy-5 wheel from the ground up. Don Massie III (Alpine Amusements) and Peter Kasin (Kasin Concessions), flew in from Chicago for the show. Massie reported that he was excited about his upcoming term as president of the Showmen's League and that he would be the second youngest president in SLA history (JJ Murphy was the youngest) to hold the seat. He said that he was looking around the show to see what was new and possibly make a purchase for 2011. Peter Kasin & Massie were busy seeking donations of food and toy products for the Showmen's League,s annual Special Children's Christmas Party for the mentally and physically challenged children of the Hanson Park Elementary School in Chicago, IL. The party will be taking place December 10, 2010. Over 1,500 children will be entertained with circus acts and Christmas music, a visit from Santa, and snacks. If anyone is interested in donating to the party, Peter asks donations be sent to: Peter Kasin c/o Showmen's League of America 1023 W. Fulton Market Chicago, IL 60607
