One person attending the North Carolina/South Carolina Association of Agricultural Fairs Convention has a whole new future awaiting him. Jonathan Brooks, former chief of the North Carolina Bureau of Ride Inspection, talked about his new assignment working with his uncle, Clyde Wagner, at Wagner Consulting. Brooks will be venturing out to perform insurance and private inspection work in South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. Some of the work will continue to be in the amusement ride area but he will also be doing extensive work in elevator inspections. Clyde Wagner, another former chief of the NC Bureau, has a successful business and works with many of the industry,s leading inspectors. Ed La Salle, Tony Rossi, Joe Gallagher, Jack Silar, Wayne Wagner and Mike Shaw are all members of the Wagner Consulting team. Also newly added in Raleigh was Avery Wheelock, formerly of Wheelock Rides, Worldwide Shows and most recently, Rockwell Amusements . Wheelock will also be getting certified for elevator inspections and performing amusement ride inspects. Wagner said his company works all over the United States doing insurance and third party inspection work. He added all except one of his inspectors have a Level III NAARSO certification. Some of the venues he has worked as a third party inspector include the Delaware State Fair, the Colorado State Fair, the North Carolina State Fair for the Department of Agriculture, the Coastal Carolina Fair, Ladson, SC, Hershey Park, Dutch Wonderland and Idlewild Park. At the convention, it was announced that Tom Chambers, Brook,s former assistant, was named acting chief of the Bureau. Brooks left the post January 1 of this year.
