Nineteen shows once again made the list of carnivals playing North America's Top 50 fairs. North American Midway Entertainment topped the list with 8,161,095 at 10 events, reflecting a slight increase in attendance at their events.

Ray Cammack Shows, despite the loss of the California State Fair due to scheduling conflicts, remained in the number two spot with 5,296,196 at 4 events.

Wade Shows, Murphy Brothers Expositions and Strates Shows held the number three, four and five spots, respectively with little change in attendance from 2008 to 2009.

Butler Amusements gained the most ground for a returning carnival in 2009, leaping from the number 11 position in 2008 to the number six position in 2009.  This was due to their pick up of the California State Fair and the appearance of the Alameda County Fair on the Top 50 list, replacing the Kern County Fair which fell below the cut in 2009.

Reithoffer Shows jumped from eight to seven with the readmission of the Pensacola Fair to the top fairs list.

List newcomer Belle City Amusements placed in the number eight spot with 2 events, the Florida Strawberry Festival and the Iowa State Fair.  These events came from the purchase of the Mighty Bluegrass Show's route at the beginning of the year.

Power's Great American Midways fell from position six to nine due to bad weather at the Dutchess County Fair in New York.  The fair dropped from the Top 50 list in 2009.  Powers had 1,455,939 at two events, the North Carolina State Fair and the Allentown Fair.

Amusements of America and Funtastic Shows flipped positions with Amusements of America rising to the number ten position largely on the strength of a rapidly growing Wilson County Fair (TN).  Funtastic slipped to number eleven with one event, the Western Washington Fair.

Holding fast to the number twelve position was Talley Amusements with 926,000 at the Southwest Exposition and Stock Show.

West Coast Amusements moved just ahead of Deggeller Attractions, taking the number thirteen spot while Deggeller fell to fourteen due to poor weather at the Arkansas State Fair.

Shamrock Shows at fifteen, Crabtree Amusements at sixteen, Fiesta Shows at seventeen and Lowery Carnival Company at position eighteen all had one event on the Top 50 list and all held their positions from 2008.

Rounding out the list in 2009, Playworld Amusements returned after a year absence on the strength of the Ionia Free Fair which posted an attendance of 383,430 in 2009.
