Wade Shows announced today that they had completed the purchase of the Mondial Fighter from independent ride owner Flight To Mars. Wade Shows owner Frank Zaitshik said the ride arrived over the weekend in Oklahoma City for The Oklahoma State Fair where it will make its Wade Shows debut at the event. After Oklahoma City, the ride will play the Alabama National Fair in Montgomery before heading to Florida for refurbishment and modification. Zaitshik was enthusiastic about the new purchase which will play select events on the show's route. "The Fighter was a rare find at a good price. The ride played with us in the past in Oklahoma City and San Antonio for the Livestock Show. Fair management and I were very impressed with the piece", said Zaitshik. The Fighter has been a staple at many of North America's largest fairs. It has played with Flight To Mars at events such as the Minnesota State Fair, Texas State Fair and Del Mar Fair in San Diego. The Fighter moves on four trailers, including one set of doubles. Zaitshik said one difficulty with the ride was that it's overweight load is currently required to be moved by a special transportation trailer. Along with cosmetic and mechanical refurbishments the ride's axles will be modified in winterquarters so the piece will be able to travel with permits in 2010. From winterquarters, the Fighter will make its first appearance in 2010 at the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach, moving to the Florida State Fair and end its Florida run at the Central Florida Fair in Orlando. The ride will then move north to play large events on the Wade Shows schedule, hopefully with fewer transportation issues. Zaitshik said that although the ride presented some challenges, the enormous benefits of adding the unique ride to the Wade Shows lineup far exceeded any drawbacks. Zaitshik pointed to his purchases of the RC-48 coaster, the White Water Flume ride, Drag Strip Mega Slide and Huss pieces like the Enterprise, Zyklon and Rainbow as necessary for larger events. "Many shows today are looking to downsize their equipment, moving to one trailer rides in an effort to increase the bottom line. Wade Shows is also committed to making necessary cuts to expenses and improving our bottom line. However, the largest fairs in the country need to have multi-trailer, high capacity, super-spectacular equipment to keep guests coming back year after year. We want to provide our fairs with rides like the Fighter, the best the industry has to offer", said Zaitshik. In addition to the Fighter, Zaitshik said he also purchased a new office from Henry Dombrowski recently. The office will travel with the unit managed by Jimmy Danton. The office is a custom-bulit 53 foot trailer with multiple slide outs. It has less than 10,000 miles on the road. Other features include a built-in ATM machine and a unique broadcasting station, operated by computer, that can send centrally programmed music to all the rides on the unit. Asked if the show had completed its shopping for 2009, Zaitshik said they were still in the market and bullish on the future of the industry. "We also are still exploring the possibility of another major coaster purchase as well as other significant additions", he added.
