Alexandria Va. (USA) - The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) proudly announces the first IAAPA Middle East Safety Conference. The conference is designed for operators, developers, and government officials interested in achieving excellence in safety for the amusement and attractions industry in the Middle East region. The conference will take place at Le Meridian Dubai in Dubai, UAE, one of the fastest developing attractions hubs in the Middle East, February 27 - 28, 2008. Participants will attend seminars, informational roundtables, and networking events that will allow them to learn best safety practices and share their own experiences and challenges. Program speakers include industry safety experts Steve Blum and Jim Seay. Mr. Blum is senior vice president of Safety and Engineering for Universal Creative, Universal Parks and Resorts. Mr. Seay is president, Premier Rides, Inc., and serves as chairman of the ASTM International F-24 Committee, which develops and refines standards for amusement ride design, manufacture, and operation. The program will feature topics such as the present state of the international supplier, user, and regulator environment; safety in ride design, standards, and testing; the scope of ASTM International standards, and IAAPA's harmonization efforts. "There is so much development currently underway in the Middle East," stated Charles Bray, president and CEO of IAAPA. "This conference is a great opportunity for members of the industry to share their "best safety practices" with their counterparts in the rapidly developing Middle East," said Bray. The $99 USD registration cost includes conference materials, food, and beverages. More information is available at http://www.iaapa.org/expos/MESConference.asp
