Heavy Rain and Flooding Effects Dreamland Amusements in New York
Monday, July 30, 2018

After moving 180 miles from a very successful Orange County Fair in Middletown, NY, Dreamland Amusements had placed all house trailers and bunkhouses at the Troy Fairgrounds in Troy, PA, but after tear down in Middletown and moving, they had to move all employees to higher ground by Monday afternoon.

The rain continued and the river eventually overflowed the fair so the show had no choice but to bring all equipment to high ground and close early.

They took down the Technical Park Wheel, MGR,  Scooter, Balloon Wheel and 5 kiddie rides.  Then Wednesday morning the river crested over the top and all equipment was moved to high ground in the nick of time.

The Troy fair was very helpful in supplying sand bags along the banks and concrete barriers. The fair's concert was canceled for Wednesday evening but bull riding and demolition derby on Friday and Saturday were still scheduled to go on.

This is the first year of a 5 year contract that was previously played by Bates Amusements until they took a unit off the road.

Dreamland goes next to the Ulster Co fair in New Paltz ny Manager Gary Newkirk heard of the situation and extended an invitation for all equipment to arrive early.  Dreamland has played the fair for 30 years.
