New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday the second phase of the states revitalization of The Great New York State Fair Fairgrounds.  The second phase upgrades include an Aerial Gondola for visitors traveling from the fairgrounds to Lakeview Amphitheater in 2018; a new Aerial Sky Ride on the midway with midway partner Wade Shows  in 2017, a new on-ramp to I-690 West and Orange Lot improvements; and construction of a new multi-use, 80,000 square-foot hybrid building and expo center.  The approved upgrades are valued at over $70 million.

In addition to new construction, the fair announced it will be expanding its operating schedule to 13 days.  The fair will open on Wednesday where as the fair opened on Thursday in previous years.  On the non-fair calendar, four additional major events will be hosted at the state fairgrounds in 2017.
