I have been trying to research swing boats, how they were constructed, and have found very little other than some pictures or short video clips of them in use. I wanted to build a replica as I have woodworking knowledge to a basic degree, but these forgotten amusements have very little data out there as to their construction. Some of their design is obvious and is seen by just looking at their photos. But not every detail is seen, like where beams were notched, angles used, etc. I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of swing boats and how they were built? Plans? Or just plain close up photos would be helpful. If I attempted to recreate one I want to make sure it is built sturdy and safe.

There are two rides called swingboats.
One is the traditional British type which is
four or five boats on a swing set A frame. The boats swing back and forth, with two kids setting face to face.
The other is what is called a chair-o-plane. With seats or tubs swung around on chains.
It is strictly a metal working project.
Brill has plans for several styles.
