Thought you all might be interested in my new book, The Secret History of Carnival Talk.

It explores the special language which developed in carnivals at the turn of the 20th century, and then spread to other parts of popular culture. (An example: "This is carnival talk" would be said "Thearzis earzis cearzarnearzivearzal tearzalk").

My grandparents travelled with the Beckmann & Gerety carnival in 1937, and taught me this language when I was a teenager. The book features 30 original photographs of that carnival, taken by my grandfather.

Thanks for your time!
