Wisdom Industries will be among the most active ride companies at the International Independent Showmen's Association Trade Show this year, February 10 - 14 in Gibsonton, Florida.

Wisdom will be introducing two exciting new pieces this year, at least one of which will be on hand at the trade show.

The first ride, the highly anticipated Windsurfer, is a modern take on a classic ride, the Flying Scooter. Updated with new cars, lights and scenery the ride is modeled like the vehicle it is named after.

The ride has eight cars with two passengers per car. Each wing is controlled by the riders so the seat flies up and down. The center tips and lifts to simulate the swooping action that you would get while riding the waves.

Twin cables support the cars from the sweeps and the center and lift mechanisms use Wisdom,s proven hydraulic raising system. WisdoPhoto By Wisdom Industriesm estimates the ride will take two men 2 1/2 hours to erect, folding up from the main trailer.

The first ride has been sold to Butler Amusements and will be on display at the trade show in Gibtown. Orders for new Windsurfers taken at Gibtown will receive a special show price of $275,000.

The second new ride introduced by Wisdom this year will be a portable version of the Giant Slide at many of the nation's top fairs. This eight lane colossus was built for Frank Zaitshik's Wade Shows and the first model is currently on its way to the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach. The slide racks on two 53' trailers and stands at over 72' tall. Set-up time is projected to be 6 hours with a 4 man crew. Additionally, the ride is equipped with a heating element located under the fiberglass to reduce condensation for unobstructed day and night operation.

Carol Silvey of Wisdom Industries said they are working hard to get the slide in to the trade show, but they are unsure if it will fit due to space issues.

Silvey said several others shows were looking at the slide and the company hopes to build a few more of them if interest persists.

Looking ahead to 2009, Silvey said the company has been holding steady in the shaky economy. Many are worried about business in 2009 and the company even lost two orders for new rides after the presidential election. She remains optimistic however about the trade show this year and business prospects for 2009.
