Gibsonton – The IISA installed their new officers Monday, February 13 at the conclusion of the 2006 Trade Show. Outgoing president Chuck Mayo turned over the reins to President Shelby Royal. Shelby is supported by 1st Vice-President Karen Arnold of Arnold’s Amusements, 2nd Vice-President Dee Dee Starkey of Myers Amusements and 3rd Vice-President Steve “Lotman” Ianni of Amusements Of America.
Ms. Royal announced that this year’s club trip to the Caribbean was progressing better than expected, having sold every suite on the 8th deck with over 164 people already signed up. The trip will take place Dec. 9 – 16, 2006. Winners of a free cruise during the raffle at the trade show were Beau Pugh of Reithoffer Shows and Yvonne Boling. Those interested in participating can contact the club for information.
There were also many ra
ffle winners during the Trade Show this year with proceeds benefiting charities such as the IISA Museum. Jim Fredrickson of Fredrickson Fun Slides was the big winner of the Chevy Duromax dually. The raffle raised over $25,000 for the IISA museum. The Ladies’ Bowling League sponsored another raffle for a “Mule” won by Arthur Lamkin, raising over $5,000 for the scholarship fund. The annual charity drive raffle’s big winner was John Arnold for $15,000. This drawing enables the club to give away approximately $40,000 to local and national charities.
Looking ahead to next year’s trade show, IISA officials were reviewing the results of the 2006 event before announcing any major plans. While it is always difficult to please everyone, many vendors and participants expressed satisfaction with the trade show this year. Club officials encourage feedback from customers and vendors in their pursuit of “positive changes” for the 2007 “Extravaganza”.
