The annual Showmen's League Of America Exhibitor's lounge was held Dec. 4th and 5th at Bally's hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Separate from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) convention, which is held in the connecting Paris hotel and Conference Center, the SLA show is described by SLA Executive Secretary Rick Haney as "the nicest little show in town."

In all, 68 exhibitors were present with several new exhibitors including MCW. The MCW booth was staffed by Jill Rainey, MCW Director of Sales and Marketing. She reported brisk business and at the booth where the all new Top 50 fairs and carnivals lists were made available. "We had many people come to the booth to ask about advertising and the new changes being made on the site," said Rainey. "We hope to have all the available banner space sold by next month and many carnivals asked about our Marketplace ads. It was a very positive experience", she added.

Other vendors including insurance companies, toy manufacturers, trailer and bunkhouse manufacturers exhibited their offering to the trade show attendees. Waterloo Tent and Tarp President Joe Burum said, "After a huge IAAPA show, we were expecting soft sales in Vegas, however, we were presently surprised by the business in Vegas. There were lots of buyers and it was just as strong as IAAPA."

Admission to the show required an SLA membership badge, which could be purchased for $25 at the door. "We were very pleased with the turnout" said Haney, "the show keeps getting bigger and better".

Next year the SLA Exhibitor's lounge is tentatively scheduled for November 26th and 27th at Bally's in Las Vegas.

In other SLA news, the club will be holding its annual Christmas party on Dec. 15 at the Hansen Park Elementary School in Chicago, IL for handicapped children. This year Giovanni Zoppe will be performing three shows for a total of 1636 children.

MCW is working on several news stories from the SLA and IAFE shows and we hope to post them shortly.
