In a deal that has been rumored for several months, Danny Huston and Jeff Blomsness have closed a deal to purchase North American Midway Entertainment from the Cypress Group. The Cypress Group is a New York private equity firm that has owned NAME since its inception in 2004
NAME was initially formed from Conklin Shows, Farrow Amusements and Blomsness-Thiebault Enterprises. They later added the Huston-owned Mid-America Shows with Huston eventually becoming the Chief Operating Officer. Playing over 140 events in the US and Canada annually and 10 of the MCW Top 50 Fairs, they became the largest midway company in North America.
Information was not immediately available as to the status of key personnel such as former NAME CEO and former Farrow Shows owner Mike Williams, former Conklin Shows owner Frank Conklin or Tony Diaz. The purchase price of the deal or future plans for the company were not announced at the time of the sale.
The Cypress Group wished the new owners well stating "Over the past six years, under the leadership of Mike Williams, Danny and Jeff, we have succeeded in building the largest and healthiest midway business in the world. We are thrilled to see our ownership transition to Danny and Jeff and look forward to their continued success with N.A.M.E., said Chris Harned of the Cypress Group.
Commenting on the purchase, new owner Danny Huston said "we are all very excited about the recent events that we undertake to keep the highest levels of standards and professionalism, further making North American Midway Entertainment the continued leader in our industry".
MCW hopes to have additional information in the coming days on the NAME purchase.
