The Wisconsin State Fair announced they would be seeking carnival midway proposals for the 2012 fair at the conclusion of the 2010 event. New fair manager Rick Frenette said the proposal is part of the regular contract process. For 2012, the fair will be looking for new, innovative ideas for the midway.
It has not been determined yet what form the RFP will take but Frenette said the fair is not married to any specific type of arrangement for the carnival area. "We will consider one carnival, a carnival providing the core and booking equipment or even an independent midway", he said.
Above all, the fair will be seeking the best rides, games and food attractions available. The contractor is also required to have a proven track record of outstanding customer service and proven performance.
Interested parties are invited to visit the fair when during the2010 event, August 5 - 15. Frenette and his staff will be available to answer questions and thoughts and ideas are welcome.
Jerry Murphy's Spectacular Attractions currently holds the midway contract for the Wisconsin State Fair. Frenette took the top job in West Alis after leading both the Utah and Ohio State Fairs.
