Good friend and long time industry veteran, Stan Minker passed away early this morning.  For the past two and a half weeks, Stan has been battling cancer of the esophagus.

Stan has been involved in the carnival and amusement industry for almost all his life, working for many shows, concessionaires, and suppliers including Goodings Million Dollar Midways, Murphy Brothers Exposition, Modern Midways, Cumberland Valley Shows, Tim & Chuck Magid, among many others.  He was responsible for putting midway games in at the Treasure Island hotel and casino in Las Vegas and also worked for Coney Island in New York as well as Old Chicago in Bolingbrook, Illinois.  In recent years, he has worked as a stock salesman for Bones Picture and Toys and Toy Network.

Stan Minker"He loved the business and would have worked forever if he could" stated his sister, Linda.  "He was a great brother and uncle."

Long time friend for over 40 years, Jim Murphy, remembered when he first met Stan at the State Fair of Texas where they both had games together.  "Stan had just come from Coney Island and watched me put up a 32 foot joint in a few hours.  Stan had been working on his for four days, smiled and said that he was used to just pulling down the awning at Coney" said Murphy.

"Stan was a great friend and always made a point to come visit us at least 3-4 times per year.  He had a passion for this business and could get news faster then AB and MCW combined.  He will be missed," said Murphy.

Also saddened was the Salerno Family in Chicago who remembered when Stan would work with Tim and Chuck Magid at Chicago area festivals.  "He was always great to visit with and has been a great friend to our family for many years" said Michael Salerno.

A small service will be held for family members in southern Florida where his mother and sister, Linda reside.  Stan and his wife, Shirley, resided in San Antonio, Texas.

Stan will be missed by many.
